RE: Game of Thrones Season 5 Discussion [SPOILERS WITHIN]

I think what makes Tyrion so great is that he's above all the petty squabbles over power that everyone else is so invested in because he knows the fact that he's a dwarf means he'll never be a leader, ironically this means he'd probably make the best leader if that could happen
“The larger the group, the more toxic, the more of your beauty as an individual you have to surrender for the sake of group thought. And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.” - George Carlin

I agree - I think Cersei would make the best Queen and she possesses everything Tywin Lannister wanted - Physical beauty, aggressiveness, wisdom, healthy courage - Except she's a woman. Tyrion would do anything for a bit of affection and wanted to prove himself - But he's a dwarf. Jaime, Tywin's beloved son, doesn't seem fond of being king. I think both characters work as a good social critique.

I..couldn't disagree more about Cersei.. she's petty, shortsighted, paranoid, and utterly unable to accept criticism or even assistance on some occasions. Also, she's not nearly as clever or adept at politics as she thinks she is, which makes her arrogant.

Same here. No fan of Cersei. I'm also no big fan of Sansa, another character that has not endeared itself to me.

In the books Cersei was defacto queen and messed up in spades, making Joffrey look like a gentle soul in the process.

Hell, she did in the show as well. Appointing unqualified sycophants to the small council, pushing away her Uncle Kevan (who is the most qualified person in the damn family besides Tyrion), establishing and arming the Faith Militant and throwing her son's wife and brother-in-law to them. She's a shitstorm of bad decisions and smug paranoia.

I missed Cersei this episode... wanted to see her groveling some more.

You'll see lots more of Cersei next episode unfortunately... I hate seeing her without power
I'm expecting this series to end on a big cliffhanger, the same one the fifth book ends on. Seems like the writers are consciously trying to break from the formula of episode nine being the major episode every series, lest it become predictable
