Could be, but Coldhands can't go south of the Wall (as far as we know). In any case, he's a badass, but neither a wight nor Benjen Stark.

OK...
He is wight-like, though.

And even if he did, even if it were Daenerys, it doesn't negate what an epic time waste it is that a character has so much screen time to have such an inconsequential death. The only real way his death would make sense if he were brought back later on in some form. At least in my opinion. Otherwise his plot, the entire plot of the night's watch turns into a stub. It's different to when Rob died, or when Ned died, because both of those plots deepened. It was instantly foreseeable how the deaths of each character would lead on to other things. Jon Snow's death just undoes a great deal of story development, completely destroys any purpose or point to his story and frankly, turns out to be a massive waste in time for all involved.

Gotta say, when I was devouring the books (after watching the first two seasons) the moment when Snow gets stabbed in the back I was like "fuck, there goes alot of work...why would he do that?"
The author -has- hinted that Snow isn't really gone for good. So I'm holding on to that, personally.

Book question: the maegi woman told Dany that Drogo will be back to normal when the sun sets in the east, when the mountains blow in the wind like leaves and when Dany gives birth to a living child. So Dany is barren now because she tried to get Drogo back?

Seems so. Her children are the dragons, now.
