He's saying that you could. He's not telling people that they need to be respectful or talk to each other a certain way on here. I don't need to respect your opinion that you think homosexual sex is immoral, or that you think the catholic church is a force of good in the world, or I especially don't need to respect someone's opinion that radical muslims, killing non-believers, is something to be respected. We don't need to be told to respect crazy opinions regarding religion, when we're on an atheist forum.

You're engaging in precisely the behavior that facilitates the existence of those people, Cath. As mentioned more than once, the production of self serving taboos extended outwards to others. To me, this is probably the most insidious aspect of the christian faith as it stands currently - because it can be leveraged just as aptly from a position of weakness (where it finds itself today) as a position of strength (as it once enjoyed). In either context it is a tool for silencing dissent, this serves -no one-, but the institutions themselves, and even then, it backfires in zealotry.
I could use islam to explain this in further detail, if that would help you to get over your feelings and so see the issue I'm expressing more clearly or in a "friendlier" light -if you'd like. But, shh...don't tell the muslims we're talking shit about them, like meanies.....you game?

Yes, I made the statement "Christians who think gays are vile, are rare." ...which is a true statement.
The video did nothing to say this was not true. So I really don't see how it relates to what I said.
