If you're just going to dismiss whatever he says as hearsay even when he answers your question, then why bother asking it at all?
'Course, if his answer was "I do no charity work," then I bet you wouldn't be all "that's just hearsay!" would you? You'd accept the answer that confirms what you already believe in a heartbeat.

I've done quite a bit for charity too, if that's helpful to anyone. I've given food to homeless people as well.
Didn't need someone threatening me to do it, either.

Since you're curioius, I tutor and mentor Bantu refugees from Somalia and help support a family on assisted living so the mother can get a certificate as a stenographer so she can get a job that can make ends meet, including providing her a car free of charge for seven months so she can get to her classes. In addition I donate to a local food bank, United Way, particpate in a Kiva lending team, and donate to Camfed to educate girls in Africa; not to mention many smaller informal donations to charities made through the year.
It's not much of a feat to come up with 75% of the charity when you're 75% of the population. If more Christians put their money where their mouths are, extreme poverty in undeveloped countries would have already been eradicated, and no one in America would be truly poor. As around 3% of the population, atheists can't do it without you.

Which I don't even think is really the issue here: we were asked what we personally do. Notice that the atheists were more than happy to supply their charitable works, and in fact actually had some to disclose, uniformly. Meanwhile, the only christians willing to speak up merely took credit for the work of others, and were seemingly unable to provide any personal charitable works at all.
Maybe there's something there to think about.

I seriously tnink you're completely full of bullshit since you haven't specifed that you're not and if you did, it would be hearsay anyway, you mealy-mouthed prat.

Four times a month, I stay up all night to be ready to go to the forensic hospital 30 minutes away so I can be there in case someone gets raped. Last time, it was a homeless girl, and since I can't let the cops take her back to where she was raped (the 7-11 parking lot), I had to arrange a bed for her at a shelter where I also volunteer.
I do work for the homeless all the time, and I'm currently setting it up so no one gets me Christmas presents this year and in the future, and instead they'll provide me with sweaters, blankets, toiletries, backpacks, etc. so I can keep those things in my car in case I run into a homeless person who needs them (which I do often).
This is all while I'm currently completely broke (I literally have $2.16 to my name) and jobless.
So, yeah, Huggy and GC, tell me again how little atheists do for charity. I even do it all without throwing a book at anyone!
I have and still do commend you on the work you do, I wasn't pointing a finger at you. My reply was to another. Most of the atheist here do drugs and drink heavily, by their own bragging, so I'm sure they haven't the time, money or care it takes to do what you do, I know their situation, I use to live it.
GC Just because you've always been a prat doesn't mean it's the default. I take your assessment of our members with all the credibility you've earned here taken into account.

What a backwards mind you have, the order is water, food, shelter, clothing and other helps such as field hospitals and ect. = Christianity. Your posting of such tripe could effect someone visiting here and if they ever needed help might just reject the help that would come to them through love and compassion, wouldn't that be wonderful, all because of your post.

Wait just a second, mister. We all know they pray daily, often multiple times. How can you say that that's doing nothing?

Back home I'm a volunteer English tutor for adults who never graduated high school and new immigrants looking to learn the language. Many of our students are, yes, poor, disabled, or otherwise disenfranchised.
That's what I do; I mean, I'm not willing to steal credit for the work of many other people like some theists in this thread have already done, but it's what I do personally. I give my knowledge and expertise so that others can attain accreditation that they never had a chance of getting before, with attendant new employment opportunities.
Always love it how ready you guys are to just assume things about our personal lives, like that we do no charity work at all. It really shows how much your preconceptions rule you.

My post was directly aimed at spooky and minimalist, since they were the ones complaining that the money being spent on the property should of been used to feed the poor.
To which my response was "what exactly have you guys done for the poor?" But unsurprisingly you assume I was speaking of ALL atheists.
By the way, do you guys complain about the amount of money the American Atheists spend on monuments? I think not....
