'Blasphemy is a victimless crime' is utter arrogance

get over the title adrian. it clearly causes you discomfort. try paying attention to the main part of my message instead: it is perfectly natural for some people to be religious. learn to accept it, for forever it shall be.
It seems to me there are two problems here. The first is that there is no victim. The second is that there is no crime.

Are you actually reading the stuff we write, or are you too busy living under the delusion that blasphemy is a crime that affects actual people, and that every member here is a fascist?
It is in some countries, but the fact that it has been makes the joke work with historical context. FYI, blasphemy laws were on the books in the UK until March 2008.
No, I said no crime is committed if people are offended.

Just like when I had sex in the 1980's with my 20-year-old boyfriend when he was under 21 and I was over 21, I didn't think that was a crime either. Would you say that was a crime? I think your earlier statement that "no crime has been committed" in relation to blasphemy was wholly correct. It is a joke that blasphemy is being called a crime. Have you got the integrity to agree with me? |
