Are Atheists a little too defensive?

RE: Are Atheists a little too defensive?
Of course we are. We have to defend our privileges, right?!

Sorry. I had to.

There are many religious websites both christian and muslim that demand that atheists be put to death.

I posted a link to one a while back.

With that sort of attitude why are you surprised that we are a "bit" defensive?

RE: Are Atheists a little too defensive?
I have a Christian friend who is CRAZY offensive with his views. He attacks anyone who sees things differently than he does.

I am an Atheist and I never attack peoples views. If someone tries to attack my views, which my friend tries to do quite often, I am more than glad to attempt to defend myself. Lol. Big Grin

I only "attack" the views of others in debate, or if they happen to say something so utterly moronic it merits immediate correction. I also have an inclination for correction in general. Mostly self-correction as I've learned to let the subtle mistakes of others slide. I can be hard to follow because of the self-correction impulse though. I'll be in the middle of a long-winded tangent, realize a mistake I made relating to it's beginning, jump back to that mistake and correct it, then jump back again to where I'd interrupted myself.

Oh how I'd tear myself a new one if I were religious... Tongue

Atheists aren't all to defensive. we are our own individual selves (like in any religion). although it may seem like we are mainly because of all of the harassment atheist get online and occasionally in real life. anyone with any pride would defend their beliefs if they were being harassed because of them.

Defensiveness is irrelevant to atheism. Atheism is disbelieving in gods.

Some atheists are defensive. Some theists are defensive.

An atheist with a book entitled Losing Our Religion. Oh Fox... Hilarious

How cute. It's a Sarah Palin wannabe. She's probably a bible thumper claiming to be an atheist so that the Christians reading her book will have an excuse to say "i'm not a narrow minded twat, I read a book by an atheist! "
