I always liked the way Michael Shermer would tackle this. Instead of proving that he doesn't exist, he demonstrates that people made god up. It seems to follow in a pretty short step that there's no reason to believe in revelation if it comes naturally from man. Maybe next time you could try that approach? Just say you can't prove he doesn't exist, but you have the next best thing.

It is not an argument so much as an idiotic last resort to seemingly appear more than just fucking dumb.

How arrogant that you (Talking to someone who would use this argument) Think it is MY job to prove to YOU that your god doesn't exist. Prove to me Pink unicorns don't exist. Can't? Then you should believe it because you can't rule it out!
You may think that example is a little extreme but I see no difference between "Prove to me god doesn't really exist" To "Prove to me lord voldemort doesn't really exist"
What are your thoughts on this argument? Do you use it? Has someone used it on you? Do you get as frustrated as I do?
It's not an argument but pathetic cry of the indoctrinated child who want to keep god blanky that shelter him from the bad, bad world. Laugh is only appropriate response I would say.
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

How about:
"Sure, there could be a god. What has this got to do with a story book?"

Proof that God doesn't exist:
If the fucker existed he wouldn't be indistinguishable from his non-existence, and if he is then he can fuck off or eat 200,000 jars of mayo.
