Still struggling.
RE: Still struggling.
I've never understood why someone would pray to a god that, if they even existed, has so obviously forsaken humanity, or actually enjoys the suffering he would see.

Simple answer Jelly. They've lost their reasoning faculties as part of their indoctrination. The 2 are mutually exclusive.
If they don't "get" logic, as Sam Harris says, how can you use logic to explain anything to them? They all have me at hello!
No God, No fear.

Indeed yes. I can take any given theist, except maybe a straight-down-the-line deist, and I can probably find logical problems with their belief system. I can find contradictions and inconsistencies.

But they don't care. Or rather, they will tell me they are not contradictions or inconsistencies. The human mind is remarkably good at being able to believe two contradictory things at once, and when they are about a subject that isn't real, they can never be tested and therefor shown to be false. This makes it even easier.

I mean, I can believe anything I want about my imaginary pet dragon. He's 5 feet tall, but also 10 feet tall. The fact that he's imaginary means normal rules don't apply to him, and he can be both. If he was to actually appear in reality though, clearly he can only be one or the other.

God never appears, nor does he ever do anything. Yet people continue to see what they want to see, attribute agency and spot patterns that aren't there. The placebo effect, confirmation bias and wishful thinking. I'm pretty sure some theists don't even believe what they say, due to the language they use. I've heard some people say "I choose to believe that..." Well, if you choose to believe it, you don't believe it. Belief is not a choice. You can choose to want to believe it, and to tell people you believe it, of course.

"Prove it."
"You can't disprove it, my coke can works in mysterious ways!"

Prove your words by a credible source. Not the same conspiracy theory website. I don't want to hear what you alone think, I want to hear what the evidence says.

What is your idea of a credible source, and why is your idea of a credible source credible in your mind?

I guess I could explain it this way. I've researched luciferianism and understand to an extent what they believe, but that doesn't mean I accept what they believe to be truth. I know they exist and believe in Lucifer, as I do, but I don't believe Lucifer is god like they do. I understand Lucifer to be the adversary of God which is the etymology of Satan. Too an extent the fact that they exist, proves God exists since that's an extension of the resistance to the universal. And what I mean by that is why would there be a group of very powerful people in many levels of our government fighting against God by taking the side of lucifer if God didn't exist? For me the dark side is interesting because it proves the existence of the opposition. And if there is opposition, what are they opposed to?

Religious apologetics is 100% the art of "explain"ing, with arguments spun directly from the apologists ass, why the offensive and the ludicrously nonsensical really makes good sense.

Really!

Aye, there is where I knew that something was rotten and stinking in the culture where I was raised - among even the most quiet, non-evangelical Protestants (those who limit their proselytizing to children in their Sunday-schools), the words "choice" and "decide", and "believe" were by far the most bandied words which you would here. How do you ask Jesus to "come into your life" when you have no reason to believe he exists? It's simply a "decision" which you have to make, or face the threatened consequences! The people who feed this filthy salad of mangled words mixed up with pathogen-laden feces to children are the average American parents who will go to war in Congress to protect children from exposure to sex through skin photos of consenting adults, as if that were in any way by comparison "porn"!

Yeah, to do all that stuff on mobile you need to first scroll right to the very bottom, and "switch to full version".

Can be fiddly on small screens!

Im sick of hearing of it and you have done no work in convincing me . I can say that no one sees you as a reliable source of info. If you want to talk about NDE, START AN NDE THREAD. Youve already de-railed the thread now please fuck off because this thread is what i come to for OCD anxiety relief currently.

Just fuck off man!

I've already started a thread of an atheist who died and went to hell, and then was saved, here:

http://atheistforums.org/thread-41204.html

I will however respect you and not post for quite a while. Like I said I'm more interested in what you believe. Just be careful of what you say online...

These types of experiences, even from atheists, are absolutely worthless.  Alien abductions have much more versatility than some atheist who claims that he was being sexually molested by demons in the afterlife until Jesus personally appeared to "save him."  As I have posted before, the AWARE study, conclusively, demonstrates that NDEs are all products of the human brain:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Parnia#AWARE

NDEs, as documented in the AWARE study (not the first, by the way, to use some basic protocols), has conclusively demonstrated a null result; in other words, NDEs/OBEs are physiological experiences only, and not supernatural encounters.  Life ends with the grave; just accept that.  You can live and die in the real world and not in a make-believe one filled with fairies and unicorns, or for that matter, the Christian god.

Well shit.

My mom found the god delusion andd ive never seen her more pissed. She said "People like Dawkins think they are so smart, they will tell you with comfort that you dont need to worry about consequences.".

This happened about 5 seconds after I woke up so U had no clue what happened.
