These same morons who decry "free exercise" would scream if tax dollars went to put a Muslim or Hindu symbol the same size on the same property.
The difference say than that of the National Cemetery is that all the grave stones are the same size and the religious symbols are the same size, and they don't limit to one religion.
The problem with religious symbols on government property is literally a "who gets to decide" problem, and a size issue. When you put the cross on public property that dominates everything around it in size, you are no longer being neutral, you literally are advocating a religious pecking order. Now if one wants to consider how absurd and potentially politically dangerous that is, remember there is no separation of religion and state in the Middle East.
There are 9 different churches between me and the Walmart my mom shops at. That is just 9. There are 360,000 houses of worship of all major religions residing on PRIVATE property in the United States. There is no lack of freedom of religion.There is no persecution of religion by saying there is no social pecking order based on religion.
