That's politics. State legislators can wave this vote of theirs around, and when the Supreme Court overturns it -- which will clearly happen based on the 14th Amendment -- those state legislators can then crow about how they stood up against the Fedruhl Gubmint. ... thereby ensuring their continued paychecks, even as their cause is shot down.

Republicans aren't happy unless they can freely discriminate against someone. Unfortunately for them their favorite people--corporations--realize that this is terrible PR. Because gay people's money is worth the same as anyone elses.
The whole tone of Church teaching in regard to woman is, to the last degree, contemptuous and degrading. - Elizabeth Cady Stanton

As is the growing swath of Americans that won't tolerate a business that does discriminate.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Some farms? Fields? ... Tornadoes?
Like seriously I'm surprised they even have therapists there, I didn't think there were any people.
Yes, we have farms, beautiful fields, terrible tornadoes, the most visited national park in the country those gorgeous Smoky Mountains, beautiful lakes that one can lock from one to the next from Knoxville.all the way to the Mississippi River. We have four large cities all which are thriving, our largest, Nashville, home to country music and one of the leading music recording cities in the country. Memphis's fame, home of the " Blues", Elvis, BBQ, Mississippi River Front and ect. Knoxville, gate way to the Smokies, home of the Big Orange Tennessee Vols, often rated as a top ten place to live in the country, surrounded by several beautiful lakes of the TVA system, next door to Knoxville is Oakridge, it house's one of the top nuclear sights in the country with a fast growing tech. corridor. Our greatest asset, volunteers, we're ready and willing to anywhere to help people. Yes we have old Christian values, they've served us well and if certain business want the right to not serve the ltbgs in their communities then that's their right. This new law is for small number of business, the ltgb community as a whole is not discriminated against. I would never support discrimination against them and most people here do not but, what gives them the right to force pastors and churches to marry them when it goes against the long established doctrine of most churches. There are churches here that have no problem marrying them,so why should they chooses churches they know want marry them, they know the doctrine of let's say the SBC forbids it. They do not support the SBC, they've done nothing to build the SBC, yet many SBC's would accept them in as individuals. I personally would not attend a church that would not accept them as individuls, and I wouldn't attend a church that accepted them as couples. I'mnot going to argue this any futher, been through this on several other occasions, I know most of you will disagree with me, have all kinds of names for me and that's okay, I've expressed my opinion and it's your right to express yours so go ahead, just remember I did so without name calling.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I guess they wouldn't be considered conservatives if they didn't want to conserve the status quo. Unfortunately in some cases the status quo is really bad.

SC is trying to get in on the 'act', but our governor has already said she will veto it.

Even when in a full froth and lather about legislating supposed bibble stuff, they never seem to also include a little proviso about forbidding remarriage following a christian marriage that ends in divorce.
Why is that ??
Once one is enthralled with God's eternal and unchanging Word, why stop 10% of the way into shoving His holy edicts down EVERYONE'S throats ??
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

This isn't about your goddamn churches. This is about businesses and fucking therapists turning down people because they're gay. It's about fucking discrimination. Here's a fun fact; You don't have to have a church to get married. You don't need a priest either. Neither of those things are necessary. None of my five kids got married in a church. My youngest daughter didn't marry her wife in a church, nor did she have a pastor oversee her ceremony.
So this isn't about your fucking churches.
