Most Americans probably couldn't place American states on a map, much less foreign countries.

My ex-inlaws couldn't read a map if their lives depended on it judging by the number of calls I used to get asking for directions to such and such place that they've already been.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me when people have difficulty knowing the locations of places on the other side of the world. Not knowing the exact geographical location of a place doesn't mean they're necessarily ignorant about everything concerning it. Most of the people who were asked knew where Ireland, the U.K., Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and Italy are. That's not too shabby.
You get the same results when asking Brits to identify U.S. states: https://www.buzzfeed.com/robinedds/its-t...he-us-stat

Yeah, well, apart from the coastlines I'd have a hard time putting American states on a map either. Same goes for Africa, by the way.

To be brutally honest, I'm not sure I could do a whole lot better than those people. My world geography sucks.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

The video about turkeyday in that link-
"the president either pardons a turkey, or they ritually slaughter one, or both?"
That guy gets us.

The examples I've scrolled through weren't so bad. Turning Belgium into Euro Disney was a nice touch, too.
Also, "Le France". heh.
One person grossly misplaced (and misspelled) Milla Jovovic, though. That's not acceptable.

The 4th one was pretty funny with Poland misidentified as Australia, lol. I'm guessing he meant Austria.
