As a christian I thank you for your donation and as a christian I'll ask you to read the book of Job and find for yourself where such distruction comes from.

Well, thats cool. I will donate my money, as usual, annonymously. Whatever they do with it is their concern. as far as the book of Job is concerned, to be honest it is probably one of my most favorite books in the KJV. And when I say "most favorite" I mean "sucks the least". I consider it the divine comedy of the KJV. In the book of Job (which I have read several times) is where I finally come to grips that leaving Christianity was a must, and that Jehovah is an egotistical prick who will bet YOUR lively hood, and the lives of your children, to appease his ego when taunted by the devil. I can point at the book of Job and HONESTLY proclaim that I am much more moral than Jehovah. The answer to this destruction does not come from the book of Job.

Furthermore, since I believe the story of Job to be a fabrication, it would seem to me that the officers of the church could use the story to justify the random suffering of any one of their many parishioners - thus dissuade any possible doubt that a person in real misery would inevitably feel about a God who doesn't do anything to help. Turns out, dropping a nuke into it does fuck all. Just leaves a load of radiation around. When considerable heat and cold temperatures mix, they react by causing a funnel effect (tornado). A nuke produces a huge and powerful wave with large amounts of thermal energy, but does nothing to slow or stop a tornado. All you can do is get the fuck out of it's way, and hope it doesn't hit your home, or harm anyone of course.

Correct Ace. This is because a) nukes scatter material, including radioactive materials, and a hurricane, even somehow severely "damaged", scatters materials like a mother fucker and b) not enough energy.

The energy required to disrupt a hurricane theoretically? Not good. A hurricane amasses energy

The heat release is equivalent to a 10-megaton nuclear bomb exploding every 20 minutes. According to the 1993 World Almanac, the entire human race used energy at a rate of 1013 watts in 1990, a rate less than 20% of the power of a hurricane.

If we think about mechanical energy, the energy at humanity's disposal is closer to the storm's, but the task of focusing even half of the energy on a spot in the middle of a remote ocean would still be formidable. Brute force interference with hurricanes doesn't seem promising.

Finally, why any explosive will not work:

In addition, an explosive, even a nuclear explosive, produces a shock wave, or pulse of high pressure, that propagates away from the site of the explosion somewhat faster than the speed of sound. Such an event doesn't raise the barometric pressure after the shock has passed because barometric pressure in the atmosphere reflects the weight of the air above the ground. For normal atmospheric pressure, there are about ten metric tons (1000 kilograms per ton) of air bearing down on each square meter of surface. In the strongest hurricanes there are nine. To change a Category 5 hurricane into a Category 2 hurricane you would have to add about a half ton of air for each square meter inside the eye, or a total of a bit more than half a billion (500,000,000) tons for a 20 km radius eye. It's difficult to envision a practical way of moving that much air around.

Attacking weak tropical waves or depressions before they have a chance to grow into hurricanes isn't promising either. About 80 of these disturbances form every year in the Atlantic basin, but only about 5 become hurricanes in a typical year. There is no way to tell in advance which ones will develop. If the energy released in a tropical disturbance were only 10% of that released in a hurricane, it's still a lot of power, so that the hurricane police would need to dim the whole world's lights many times a year.

Quite sad really, and to top it off, there are hundreds upon hundreds of people begging me for my prayers to them..do they not realize their god just destroyed one of their churches? What will it take before they see the reality of the situation...sad...so very sad, and it is compounded by sophomoric superstitious blah blah.

Hey everybody. First of all i would like to thank you rev. j for showing compassion and kindness to those people that suffered loss due to the tornato. It is my opinion that prayer will help but donations certainly help as well. If anybody as human beings, show kindness to our fellow man if he be atheist or theist it matters not, then kindness will be shown to us. some say it comes in the form of blessings, some say its karma and some refer to it as the laws of the universe.

Now about the part where it was stated that the theists will probably offer some ridiculous explanation such as.. God has a plan and we will rebuild for the glory of God. It seems as if you have an understanding about how we see things. To be honest had you not said that I probably would have. It may seem ridiculous to you but it is an explaination. It isnt a rule we have to like everything our God does. We just have to accept it is the best thing in the long run and sometimes that takes some time. It is written, all things work together for good for those that love god. or you could refer to it is the reasons we believe it happend.

And an added note on that.. God did not destroy his church. A tornado destroyed a building. The "church" is not the church. The believers are the church. And any beleivers that were "killed" as a result of the tornado.. Well as silly as it may sound to some on here, theyre not dead. Their spirit is simply no longer here on earth with the rest of us. Death is not the end in other words. Peace.
