How to end police shootings in one easy step.

Many of these instances have been taped. I'm sure there are plenty that haven't been recorded. Benefit of the doubt goes to these, since we don't have sufficient information. But if someone raises their hands in the air, or someone's simply running away to be shot in the back, there's little room for that.

The kid wielding a toy gun is debatable, and I hate myself for saying that. On a very narrow scale, since watching the video of the incident, cop car pulls up, cop jumps out and opens fire the very second. They obviously didn't make any effort to resolve the situation in a non fatal way.

They have no impetus to do so, they operate with legal impunity, and they have an army of dimwitted civilians who'll say the silliest shit in their defense- justifying their actions with no need for specifics or facts..and even in the -face- of specifics and facts...and all of this happens both before and after we've already set the dominoes up to be pushed over, so to speak.

That we have a bit™ of a problem isn't even surprising, when it's put into context.

I already answered no to your summary execution question....Perhaps you would be better off asking a question, if you don't understand (or making an argument if you disagree) rather than repeating yourself.

And there may be uncertainty for the officer in the moment, even though analysis of the video afterwards may show, that it was not a gun.    For instance, shooting someone, once they are in control, because the resisted earlier, would not be justifiable, and the policeman would be accountable with charges brought against them.

For fucks sake, there are so many things wrong with that incident, I scarcely know where to begin.

You answer no, but simultaneously justify the very same.  Imagine that -every- officer was uncertain -every- time..with -every- suspect...-all- of which resisted.

(do you actually read what you write, btw....honestly....that bit about the benefit of the doubt -even- in the face of certain evidence to the contrary is crazy talk...)

Concerning your edit:   Yes, I normally do overview what I write before posting.... And even though the evidence may show, that the one under arrest was going for a cell phone, I think the benefit of the doubt should go to the officer, and the one with the authority, rather than the one ignoring it.  The one who had to make a quick decision concerning theirs and others safety.   I don't think that "stop and put your hands up" is that difficult of a concept for most, and that actions have consequences.

Of course you can be on the ground, with your hands up, saying 'don't shoot' and still get shot anyway....

Quote: “When I went to the ground, I went to the ground with my hands up,” Kinsey said, “and I am laying there just like this. Telling them again there is no need for firearms. He is autistic. He has a toy truck in his hand.”
Kinsey can be heard clearly saying to police on the video “All he has is a toy truck. A toy truck. I am a behavior therapist at a group home.”
Kinsey was shot while in this submissive position. Kinsey said he still has no idea why the officers shot him.
“I thought it was a mosquito bite, and when it hit me I had my hands in the air, and I’m thinking I just got shot!” Kinsey said. “And I’m saying, ‘Sir, why did you shoot me?’ and his words to me were, ‘I don’t know.’”
After the shooting, Kinsey said that police handcuffed him and left him bleeding on the sidewalk for a while, ignoring his cries for assistance.

"I don't know" is probably the most honest possible response to that question, lol.  I wonder if the cop put that in his police report....that he shot the suspect because "I don't know".  Doubtful. Betting that he came up with pages and pages of reasons before the close of business. Probably started working on the story while the guy was on the sidewalk bleeding out.

No... I don't justify summary executions.   What is your answer to the issue?

It's more accurate to say that you don't understand that you justify them, and..perhaps... wouldn't hold the opinions that you do if you realized that you did, imo.

I've already weighed in on this one a few times.  I don't think that cops should have guns, we wouldn't have to worry about the benefit of the doubt, or whether or not resisting is an unofficial capital offense, or whether we justify summary execution for that unofficial offense..intentionally or otherwise. Unarmed cops have this strange pattern of not shooting people, regardless of their color, even. Wonder of wonders, I know.

My take from it, was that it was an accident.   I was always taught and a big believer in the adage "don't point a gun at something you do not intend to shoot".  That was a horrible story, and sounds like it was mis-managed from start to finish.... I'm curious what the conclusion of the investigation was?  I'm just guessing, but I would wager, that the guy got a pretty good payout settlement.  I would also hope, that the cop was severely disciplined.
