I think we've made it pretty clear that it's the latter.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

That would be a pointless and silly objection. That is precisely how a group is defined.
If individuals don't wish to be lumped in with the group of individuals who all have those common hobbies, then they can stop engaging in those hobbies at their own leisure. Nothing to do with me, not my problem...except insomuch as they insist upon making it so....which, ofc, is exactly what we're discussing...huh?
Do you speak for "we" now, btw? I thought you objected to lumping?

Rhythm,
Maybe we are splitting hairs here. Simply stating that you make generic and broad claims about all religious people. Be they stereo-typical or your own perceived ideas that the "religious group" does/stands for. You stated:
Maybe it has something to do with religious people casting jesus' vote in absentia, or with their noted ability to shittify other peoples lives at every conceivable level? Or maybe it's the piled on affrontery of watching those very same, very religious people play a limp victim card at any given opportunity?
I'm a religious person and don't fall in to any of those categories and I know non-believers that fall in to some of those (playing victim card, shittifying others, etc). You seem to have a particular person type in mind when you hear someone is "religious", but my friend that simply does not conform with reality.
We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.

Splitting hairs? No, I plainly and specifically described the religious people I was talking about. You don't think it conforms to reality, that could only -be- true if there were no such people.

I was referring to King and I.

And for the record, we are individuals, but I'm ok getting lumped with CL

I assume that the people who cast jesus vote, shittify others lives, and wine about how unfair everyone is to them at every given opportunity ( a delicious bit of irony, that the manner in which they play the victim card is entirely indistinguishable from their usual claims and implications) wouldn't mind being lumped in together either. They're the ones rallying to christ, no one else makes them do that. So, now that we've established that you object to nothing -I- said, are not one of those people, and do not wish to be lumped in with those people or defend those people.........are we done?
I suppose I could add another commonality to that list, and lump some more folks in. People who, rather than cleaning their own house, bitch at others for having the audacity to notice that it's dirty.

To be clear, I wasn't making a generalized statement. Rhythm asked us:

I told him we (meaning you and I who are both making the same argument here in regards to generalizing religious folks) were referring to the latter.
