How bad do you hate the Donald?

I also had no interest in teaching in a private school or charter school.  (I would never have put up with the hardships of teaching just to contribute to the widening of the gap between haves and have-nots).  Why might you lose your position with so many years experience?

Donald Trump wants to do away with tenure.  He's also a big fan of Merit pay, and wants to implement a voucher system.  This means less support for public schools (especially in a conservative area like mine), and our schools--though they do well--do not receive the support we need already.  Teachers are leaving our area for higher paying jobs.  I can't exactly blame them--cost of living has increased significantly in our area, and we rarely get the raises we need to adjust for it.  When we do, the raises mostly go toward healthcare.   I could easily be making a lot more money if I chose a longer commute.  But I love the school I work at--I mean I'd work at any public school, I stay because I want to.  Combine Vouchers with Merit pay and subtract tenure, and I think it's a formula to destroy our public schools.   I also worry what that'll do for my kids education--because I won't send them to a private school.  If our public schools start failing due to vouchers + merit pay, what does that mean for my kids?  

It might vary from state to state--depending on what Trump does (does he EVER explain just what most of his plans are anyway?) .  I'd consider moving to a more liberal area, but then my husband would have to find a job.  And his current job pays better than most jobs he could probably get elsewhere due to his lack of college degree (he has an associates degree, but he also has a LOT of experience.  He got the job he has now because a friend of ours agreed to hire him because they know him so well, and he's doing a good job) and even that might not do much good depending on how Trump does what he's planning on doing.

It's not surprise Trump doesn't support public education.  He didn't attend a public school, none of his kids attended a public school.  One of the reasons I supported Hillary was because she graduated from a public school, and sent Chelsea to a public school--even when Bill was governor.  I trust a candidate far more on education if their own kids attended public school.  And if they themselves did.

Man you guys are proud.  You act like you fucking trotted out Dwight Eisenhower and won in a landslide. Now the whole country has too suffer (whether they know it or not) because this was the republican party's best and brightest.   Some old codger whose claim to fame is saying "Your Fired", and going bankrupt.   I'd take another four years with GW or Mitt and ask for seconds over Trump.
