But I'm way out of my depth with it, sadly.

Well, why a who and not a what? If you have a who, then where did this person come from? That is an infinite regression.

Also, that's an argument for deism, not a particular religion, though you didn't state your acquaintance's affiliation to be sure.

The individual was a neighbor of a friend, and as to his affiliation....do you refer to religious affiliation?  I think he was Presbyterian.  Is that what you were asking me?  Why is this relevant, again?

That's a phallacy! (spell check).
First you need to prove that having a full nutbag proves God!
No God, No fear.

**coughGCcough**

Oh, sorry - I thought you said being a full nutbag.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Oh, no, it isn't relevant. I was just acknowledging that it isn't, while making the point that his argument about thermodynamics and entropy is an argument for deism and not a particular religion.

In my friend's case, he knocks on people's doors on Saturday mornings to tell them about "the good news". How he gets from e=mc² to that, I have no idea.

So basically God =true because maths?

What about because sky=blue? Or because Piccadilly circus on monopoly board =yellow!

pretty sad if they need to resort to this to prove anything, let alone the creator of the universe...

Nah. Even Vorlon has some standards.

Trapezoided cucumber? Yes he definitely would. Most definitely.

I hadn't heard of this, so I did do a search. It seemed to talk about the vast amount of energy, that is stored within all the matter of the universe. I don't know that this would be a very strong arguement for God, However I do think a case could be made against some cosmological notions, especially as you magnify the power backwards through what is proposed. I have made a similar case, discussing time and matter without beginning.
