Algae blooms can have some really cool effects!
I remember when I was a kid, around 14 I think so this would have been in the late 80's, the Oregon Coast had a Bioluminescent algae bloom, or is a phytoplankton bloom? It was amazing to see! Each wave crest had a blue glow, and the sand glowed and sparkled blue when disturbed. It probably was totally unsafe, but we played with the sand for quite some time, not knowing any better.

I heard that if you eat a bunch of pink Peeps Oreos (for a limited time only) your poop will turn pink. Should probably tell Catholic Lady, she'd enjoy that.
