New Study: atheists are less open-minded than theists

I wonder how we atheists would be treated on these Christian message boards.  

Would we be welcomed with open arms?  Somehow, I doubt it.

Even when I was a Christian, I stopped going to Christian forums because of the way they treated one another. Even the moderators needed moderating. Now if I went in there as an atheist, my very presence would probably be a unifying force for them.

Christian 1: Who let her in here?
Christian 2: Why would she tell us she's an atheist unless she came to convert us to satanism.
Christian 3: Make sure you dock her ip address.

Someone once invited me to join a Christian group on FB.

I declined, stating the reason, "I'm an atheist.  You know I'm an atheist.  Why would you invite me to join a Christian group, especially an conservative one?"

Got almost the exact response from a few members as you quoted for Christian 2.

Although, I don't believe atheism has anything to do with whether or not a person is either open minded or close minded. I think that has more to do with which political side a person embraces. Left wingers are far more hateful, authoritarian, and much less tolerant of opposing opinions than those on the right.

Why the fuck should anyone here apologize to a theists who picks up a book and says "This here is God giving me permission to be a dick to my fellow human".

GET A CLUE, there is a huge difference between a government's duty to protect all religious labels equally by law, and the separate issue of the credibility of the claim itself.

Most of the atheists here, including me, DO NOT desire to force religion out of existence via government. But if you pick up your book and think that gives you some moral superior rights over all others, well what can I say? No, and fuck you. Yes I hate asshole bigots. 

Kurdish and Coptic Christians, Shiites living under Sunnis, Sunnis living under Shiites, LGBT and non Muslims in the theocracies of the east, they are victims, not you. You having your God picked on only means you got your God picked on. You have no fucking clue what oppression is. 

Yes I do hate assholes who think they own the planet and think it is the duty of others never to question them. And if we hated you that much you wouldn't be here. We hate your logic yes. We hate that religion allows you to ignore that it does cause human divisions. 


Go live in Saudi Arabia or Iran for a while then come back here and lecture us about what "hate" is.
