I worked in a morgue for just over a year.
At the end of my time there I was responsible for training the guy who would replace me.
And, one day, he was due to sit in on his first autopsy. I warned him about not eating for the 24 hours before it.
But he did.
And do you know what happened? No word of a lie: he puked on my shoes.
Really creepy.
What? You expected a story of the supernatural?

I read your responses. The animosity in this forum is over the top.....really bizarre.
When have you EVER seen a debate where the first candidate states something he thinks is true, and the second candidate replies, "Shut the $%^& up you @#$%"? The answer is NOWHERE. What this answer means is, "I don't have an answer to what you are saying and I am ticked off about it". Then who would win the debate? The first candidate. Stay calm guys. If someone says something to you that you believe is wrong, you only have to tell them they're wrong and why you think so. Attacking and ridiculing people is a sign you are not sure of your argument. Only in atheist forums have I seen this animosity. Also, I'm not forcing any of you to read my thread. If it is THAT threatening to you, just read another thread. You guys act like you have all the answers on the subject of religion, yet you obviously still have a deep curiosity otherwise you wouldn't be hanging out in this Christianity sub-forum 24/7. Bottom line on Fatima: if NOTHING at all happened in Fatima in 1917, then the newspapers wrote articles about it for nothing, and the people submitted thousands of testimonials to the Church for nothing, and the Church ran an investigation for 13 years for nothing, and made an announcement in 1930 approving of the incident for nothing. The writing is on the wall guys.
Yes. And there is nothing written on the wall.... unless you wear the super magic jesus glasses.
Well, I don't pal. (August 8, 2017 at 9:49 pm)pabsta Wrote: Also, I'm not forcing any of you to read my thread. If it is THAT threatening to you, just read another thread. We're not forcing you to post on this forum. If it is THAT threatening to you, just visit another forum.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

Why does the church waste so much time on a 'miracle' that has zero value, instead of helping the poor like Jesus (who they believe to be the Son of God and God) instructed?

Perhaps you should seek out the peace and quiet of a Catholic forum if you don't like the way your ideas are being treated. Fatima is a PRATT - A point refuted a thousand times. If you had done due diligence and searched to see if there were previous threads on the subject, you would have found quite a few. Quote: What this answer means is, "I don't have an answer to what you are saying and I am ticked off about it". No, it means "Oh, FFS -- not this crap again! Quote: Then who would win the debate? Okay -- "You're wrong, because the astronomical records for the day indicate that the sun didn't do anything unusual." Happy now? No, it's a sign that we're sick to death of pretentious believers waltzing in here with crap we've already argued against, and won. Quote:Also, I'm not forcing any of you to read my thread. If it is THAT threatening to you, just read another thread. No, it's much more fun to mock you and tear your arguments to shreds. The writing is on the wall guys. Now you're getting it! Fatima is just heavily-marketed "nothing." The RCC has undoubtedly made quite a lot of money from the scam, so I don't see them dropping it any time soon. They aren't "investigators" -- they're mythology pimps.
Wait wait wait wait....
Pabsta, this thread was never a debate. Your first post was literally "What do you atheists think about Fatima?" A post/thread that was (and still is) titled "The undeniable (emphasis mine) miracle at Fatima." Well, we told you what we thought. Sometimes with derision, sometimes with crass language, or even insults, but we told you. Now, if you really just wanted to know what we thought, than that should've sufficed, but of course not. Like just about every Christian who comes through here, you were disingenuous. What you really wanted was to spar with us over Fatima and the notion of miracles in general, with the hope of 'winning' the argument in some manner. You're looking for a "checkmate, atheists" moment, like so many others who waltz in here. So, please spare us your wounded pride. You had an agenda coming in, and we didn't buy it.

Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
--- There is no better way to convey the least amount of information in the greatest amount of words than to try explaining your religious views.
