As far as the God's Not Sead thing goes, I'm only familiar with it through Hugo and Jake of The Bible Reloaded. That was enough.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

But yeah, there's not that many truly positive portrayals of atheists.
Now THAT was a fine movie!

Don't let him off the hook for point 1, either. Giving us free will is one thing, giving us impulses we can't control and imposing rules and coercing with fear and giving us laughably bad information to go on (informed consent not really a big moral priority in the babble) is hardly in line with free will.
Well said.

Damn, guess I can't be touched by his noodly appendage, then. I'm a pretty big dick to the assoles in other faiths.

It's worth seeing the Cinema Snob's riffing on it too.

My former religion teacher showed this movie to my class. I was a christian back then and didn't find the movie so bad. After seeing a review of this movie I became an atheist (this isn't the only reason why I became an atheist, I was questioning my belief at that time).
I didn't find the movie bad when I was a christian, but I didn't love it either. My teacher on the other hand enjoyed it.

Well, he does review a lot of bizarre porn, so that's not at all surprising.

Buddha, Mohammed and others never claimed to be sons of god, and admitted they were only humans. But Jesus claimed to be the Son of God himself which makes him something special, that's why Christianity raced ahead of all the others and became the biggest peloton on the road..
Jesus said - "I've beaten the world" (John 16:33)

Have you even read your own holy book?!?
"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ." (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)
Ah but Jesus never said that, Paul did, anyway the word 'slave' can translate as simple house-servants etc, and in a sense you're a slave to your boss at work..
No decent person has ever wanted to keep a "slave", in fact Moses once went ballistic and killed a slave-driver-
"One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Glancing this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand" (Exodus 2:11)

What is the proof that he really was the son of God? What is the proof that a God exists?
Humans do surely exist, and the other prophets show human characteristics, so them claiming that they're humans isn't unbelievable. Even if the other prophets didn't exist, the claim that they were humans is still more believable.
And just because something has more succes, it doesn't mean that it's better.
