But because their respective supporters could not see the cost of not being united. Trump is now president because of that lack of understanding. I don't want a repeat. Dems need new blood.

Yeah, I agree, but I am still in the "feel sorry for Hillary mode"; part of me is hoping that she will have another go (she would have run anyway had she won, right?), but the Democrats' best hope is a squeaky clean middle-age white guy.

Hillary was never the natural candidate.   She lacked charisma.  Her grasp of policy is dogmatic rather than insightful.  None of her husband's mental or tactical ability rubbed off on her despite 40+ years of marriage.  She is as aloof and inflexible as ever she had been as the student firebrand activist.   The only reason why she is even a candidate is because she rode her husband's coattail to prominence and then assiduously had her tickets punched in order to make her own assault at the high office.   But she didn't shine in any of those posts.  She is like the Harvard MBA hired into an executive rotational programs where she only need to not fuck up too badly in several mid level management posts before somehow deemed qualified to become senior executive.  But when she gets there you find she had learned little of how her company works and continue to spout the theories she learned in business school.

Yes, she would have been infinity raised to the googleplex power better than trump, but it is still hard to imagine that even in Democratic Party of today there is none better than her.

RE: Trump's ultimate revenge.
It has been an arduous slog through that damn book. Jesus, haven't touched it for a few days, I just don't have the stomach for anymore Clintonland dysfunction.

And maybe it will change in the last 75 pages or so, but despite the devastation the book is doing to Hillary's public service future, I have this skin crawling sensation the book shades things in Hillary's favor somehow, despite sentence after sentence, page after page and chapter after chapter documenting the continuing disastrous horror of her campaign, the feeling gurgles up somehow the author is holding back some percentage of the total picture of campaign malfeasance.

And then there is the 'de facto' collusion (it looks like collusion but there wasn't any, AFAIK) between the Sanders and Trump campaigns. Hillary's faults being so grossly evident to both campaigns and so many times those 2 campaigns were echoing the same criticisms at the same time.

I'm finding reading Shattered to be literally sickening. And I suspect Hillary's new book coming out will be, at least for me, unreadable past the first few pages of delusions and lies.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

It's not a pleasant read, and I'll be glad to finish it.

As for Hillary's book, I'll be reading something else. Anything else.

And sadly for the folks clinging to the idea that Hillary would be a better president than Trump, there is not a particle in Shattered to establish that belief.

None.

The only logical conclusion that can be drawn (and granted, I'm not done with the book yet) is Hillary would have been different. There is absolutely nothing, not a jot or tittle, to make any claim at all Hillary would have been 'better'.

Jesus, a Hillary West Wing with Mook and Huma, and all the other cretins, back stabbers, liars, incompetents, toadies, brown nosers, lickspittles and idiots would have been a fucking disaster epic the equal of what Trump is inflicting, just different in it's execution.

Almost has me on my knees thanking God Almighty* the guaranteed disaster for the country regardless of the election outcome is it's the Republicans fault with President Trump and not the Democrats fault with President Hillary. Jesus Fucking Christ.

I don't think you are clear at all about how bad trump is.

Kind of forgot about that.  Rolleyes

Yeah....according to my kids we're gonna die on the 21st of this month anyway, so why bother looking forward to 2020.

Oh please no.

Well, she won by 3+ million, and so, she wasn't a complete loser.  I think that a dead person could run in 2020 against Trump and win.

The Dems need new leadership.  The primary process will sort that out.

Go read the book.

I feel like I'm asking you to go eat a shit sandwich garnished with a dead rat with that request.  I'll understand if you don't, or if you do and get a few pages in to it and can't read any more of it.

Regardless of the stridency of opinion that maintains Hillary would have been a "good" president, I'd never insist for a supporter of her to read Shattered.  Almost wish I hadn't, the 'saving grace' in reading it is the realization that it's for the best she lost. The country was totally and completely fucked either way, at least we can blame the disaster we do have on the Republicans.
