Never believed in gods and scumbags are scumbags, wether theist or atheist. Atheism is not a hive mind. Neither is theism, you lot can't agree on pretty much anything. I just reject all y'all un-evidenced claims. Trying to make a case for guilt by association (from 1956 no less)? William Branham traveled all over the world and spoke at many different pastors churches of all denominations. These are the sermons and cities Branham preached at just from 1956 I'm pretty sure he ran across lots of people. Wrong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peoples_Temple Quote:The move to San Francisco permitted Jones to return to urban recruitment and made better political sense because it permitted the Temple to show its true political stripes. By spring 1976, Jones openly admitted even to outsiders that he was an atheist. Despite the Temple's fear that the IRS was investigating its religious tax exemption, by 1977, Jones' wife, Marcy, openly admitted to the New York Times that Jones had not been lured to religion because of faith, but because it served his goal of social change through Marxism. She stated that, as early as age 18 when he watched his idol Mao Zedong defeat the Nationalists in the Chinese Civil War, Jones realized that the way to achieve social change in the United States was to mobilize people through religion. She admitted that "Jim used religion to try to get some people out of the opiate of religion" and had slammed the Bible on the table yelling, "I've got to destroy this paper idol!"
Interesting. I'm too lazy to look into it further, so for the sake of the argument dude was an atheist.
That's one. Good job I guess. RE: This Has to Stop

Hitler had his doubts too. But you don't do the kind of things he did without some serious screws loose upstairs. And again, I don't give a flying cocksucking fuck what label you apply to a person if it's not a rational skeptic and secular humanist. Find someone who fits that description who threw people into the fire and then we're talking.
People suffering from various mental disorders come in all shapes and sizes, the difference being that religion (via indoctrination) creates an artificial delusion in those who would otherwise most likely never develop this unfortunate condition and because of the nature of religion, will often discourage those suffering from worse symptoms from seeking the kind of help they need. So of course you're going to have atheists who have sociopathic tendencies or who simply lack the adequate education in ethics and values and never develop a sense of empathy strong enough not to become predatory or unsympathetic towards others. You can adopt whatever moral philosophy you want, but if your intent is to maximize well-being and minimize suffering, then you'll get as far away from any religion's ideas as possible, otherwise you're just fooling yourself and no one else with a thinking mind (but of course you can fool children which, again, is the whole point of this thread). And even if a fair few great world criminals like Stalin were atheists? The only way they successfully perpetrated their schemes was by taking advantage of the gullible masses who were primed for following and stupidity by their own religions. Not creating an environment in which this bullshit is so rampant would have prevented Nazism from ever getting off the ground. There's not a single genuine objection you can raise wherein religion is not to blame for a great deal more than simple atheism. Even North Korea, while technically atheist, is a state of horrendous indoctrination and is still teaching their kids that the Dear Leader is some kind of god-king whose birth was heralded by birds singing in human speech, and, less miraculously, playing a perfect game of golf his first time picking up a club. Lack of belief in a god doesn't prevent you from being a piece of shit. But belief in god is far more likely to result in you being one and not realizing it; actually, let me rephrase that. Pretending you know there's a god and that you know what its will is, makes you a piece of shit.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
--- There is no better way to convey the least amount of information in the greatest amount of words than to try explaining your religious views.
True story: just about everyone suffers from one mental disorder or another. Some of us are lucky enough to have a few.
