I thought you used to be an atheist so you should know what it is.
Which is being able to truthfully answer no to the question, "do you believe in god"
I don't believe in god, never have up to now.

Here is the list of things theists need to get through their heads.
1. We are not a gang.
2. We are not a political party.
3. We are not an economic ideology.
4. WE ARE NOT A RELIGION.
5. We DON'T worship either sky heros or ground trolls, NEITHER EXIST.
6. We don't hate human rights, we do get annoyed by bad use of logic.
NOW, here is what we are,
DIVERSE!
Atheists do vote republican and libertarian, not me personally, but I meet them all the time. There atheists also whom worship firearms on par with theists. There are theists who value the "fuck you I got mine" economics of Ayn Rand. There are others whom value Che, the revolutionary dickhead whom lead to Castro's Cuba. I don't like either economic view.
Atheists come in all classes, we come from all educational levels, we have left every religion you can think of worldwide. We exist in every skin tone and nationality.
The only thing we have in common is "off" on claims of super natural god/s. Outside that if you want to know what an individual atheist thinks on issues of politics, religion or economic views, ASK THE INDIVIDUAL.
We really do get tired of bullshit blanket assumptions so when you debate us treat us as INDIVIDUALS.
If atheists hate having to repeat it, why are you?

Because we have to. Because of theists constantly being sold the bullshit idea that not believing is evil.
Now, please do not get focused on my repetition on this particular website, this is a reminder post, not just to our theist posters here, but also for the atheists here, to remind them that they don't have to put up with theist bullshit vilification, on this website or anywhere on the web or in daily life outside the web.
It is easy to get caught up in a narrow focus, we should not assume that because we know each other here, that mere lurkers or newbies that may show up, have the same interactions we are used to here.
Point is, it is a never ending battle.
I hate having to repeat my OP, but I will not stop repeating it because unfortunately, we do have to deal with theist ignorance.

He nnever said he enjoyed it.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Yes I was and I do not accept the current fashion of trivializing the significance of being an atheist. If someone asks you, "Do you believe in God?" and your answer is "No, I do not." then you have taken a stance with respect to the truth of the proposition put to you. I say, own it.

Huh. Isn't that what atheists do when they say they don't believe in a God?
Oh let me guess... you're conflating belief with knowledge and pretending an atheist has to pretend to know there isn't a God merely because they don't believe in one. You sure love your pretending.

Not exactly. I'm saying that least when I was an atheist, I wasn't some pussified version. I could at least say that the proposition "God exists" was not true. To profess that "God exists" is not true is a knowledge statement about the proposition. So what say you? Is the proposition "God exists" true or not true, because those are the only options.

When I was sexually active, it wasn't some pussified version. It wasn't simply that, as a male, I don't have the capacity in me to get pregnant; I actively sought to resist being impregnated.

Those are the only options? Because you say so? I'm afraid not.
There is no "pussified" version of atheism. This is an error of someone who can't get it through his simplistic head that the universe is not black or white. Sorry, but the universe does not dumb itself down to accommodate those with an intellect too limited to understand it.
Shit is complicated. If you can't deal with it, go post on Facebook.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
