I find you contemptible - let's go play a game together doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Theism. Not theists. There is a difference.

There's not much you can say about unsubstantiated conjecture. That's why I've approached by using counterexamples to the implied corollary.

Counter claims yes, but claims are just that and you have NO evidence for what you claim.

We cant stop you from believing in the super natural, but don't pretend you have evidence for such, you don't.

People complain about their personal lives all the time here, and they're usually not the theists. Do you really need me to dig up examples? I was trying not to put particular people on the spot.

Probably not a wise or courteous choice either way brian may answer.

It is "theism" in the OP. If it were "Theists are childish" that would fall against the rules. And the OP does constitute a discussion starter, and worded well.

I would appreciate everyone in this thread to actually adress the points, instead telling the mods how to do their jobs and complaining about the amount of kudos it got.

I mean atheist forums. Surely theism is going to be criticized.

I hope that clears your mind.

NSS - it was a rhetorical question.

The title has a slight ring of condescension but the OP was substantive I thought.

Not in the least. The entire OP was attempting to describe the moral, emotional, and intellectual development of ALL theists without qualification. As such it is a thinly disguised blanket condemnation of ALL theists.

Absolutely.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I don't have to agree with every single thing in a post to kudos it, but I found it an interesting post, a new take, and I'm sorry to say... for your sake since you are so hurt by it... I agree to a large part with the logic of it; that looking at it from that angle, it's an interesting way of describing the psychological dynamics, wholesale, of religion, re indoctrination. As regards to converts, okay maybe it's a bit judgmental/superior to be talking about pity and contempt, but it still makes an interesting point.
