I'll get back to you on it but I sort of suspect that you might doubt my sincerity when I do. No extra credit for you (or me either) until we elaborate. I also find it daunting but I know I do. For one thing, being true to myself and not misrepresenting my beliefs or values for the sake of social ease. So something about authenticity. But also I find myself inclined toward reverence in regard to many aesthetic things including passages in novels, music, paintings, sculptures, operas and even sometimes gardens. (I'll have to check to see if Led Zeppelin's Kashmir is among them, but quite likely.) Nature does it to me every time. My first obsession was the animal kingdom. I've since moved on to the plant kingdom. This place never fails to move me. (Walked there yesterday.) (November 14, 2017 at 5:34 pm)Cthulhu Dreaming Wrote: Thank you very, very much! There is another that does include the poll. Thanks. Sunny and warmish today. But yesterday was cloudy and dramatic as seen in that photo I just posted. How about you? How's the weather in balmy old England (Germany?)? RE: Is anything sacred? (Extra credit for specifying what it is for you.)

I used to consider my penis sacred, not so much any more. Boobs still make the list.
I really don't like the word, it's to inflexible, to finite, with definite religious overtones. Can I consider some thing/action sacred in one context and not another? I guess that's what it comes down to for me, my reverence or respect for any "thing" would probably change depending on the situation and my set and setting. I know that in the past I've had great reverence for "things" until the acid wore off.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

@Whatevs
Looks like a great place to grow onions, after you set fire to the groundcover and turned it under, ofc.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Without a god nothing can be "sacred" and since there is no evidence for any gods the answer must be "no."

The sense of what is sacred predates theism, they just coopted it like so many other things. While gods depend on a sense of the scared, the sacred does not depend upon gods.

To use the term loosely, there are a few things which I consider golden rules, or sacred.
