Presidential candidate Jon Huntsman is pounding away at rival Rick Perry's skepticism of manmade global warming and criticism of the nation's central banker, saying those stands hurt the GOP and make the Texas governor come off as a not-so-serious national figure.

"For the first time in our history, we are passing down to the next generation a country that is less powerful, less compassionate, less competitive and less confident than the one we got," the former Utah governor said. "This, ladies and gentlemen, is totally unacceptable and totally un-American." Huntsman also pledged to take "the high road" and respect his GOP rivals, as well as his former boss, President Obama.

The racist shitheads will never tolerate that last bit. That's why Huntsman can't win.

For a Mormon, that's still pretty darn good. I know it's not the same as full blown marriage, but it's a step in the right direction at least.

This I accept. As a rule I only accept people on merit. If he did indeed actively support civil unions and didn't prevent gay marriage, I'll give him his due. Rhetoric during a political race on the other hand, doesn't even warrant an eyebrow raise.
