Again, I don't think it's so likely that I'm running out to get a bunch of guns. But I recognize that I'm sticking my head in the sand a bit by not being prepared.
I'm a prepper at heart. When I get the opportunity I like to build a stock pile of food, tools, medicine etc. I also have a collection of books to teach me what I don't know in case of a collapse of civilisation. I am happy to live in a society with strict gun laws so that I don't have to worry about going out and buying a gun, or for that matter worry about getting randomly shot going about my daily business.

Can't be getting off burning fossil fuels, naw, an AR-15 is the solution for everything. Not like the inventor himself didn't want them in civilian hands...... OH WAIT!
Drop your peanut butter sandwich SHOOT IT!
It's snowing, SHOOT THE SNOW!
Your favorite sporting team lost, SHOOT THE TV! Ode to Elvis fans there.

Seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy -- myself.

I've always been puzzled by this post-apocalyptic scenario...
So, you're in a state of scarcity of everything and gas, so you... make your vehicle heavier and add a guzzling engine so you can join other people with ridiculously gas hungry vehicles in their hunt for the few lone survivors who still have a few drops of gas?
The end total cannot be positive!
Of course, if those ideas were created today, I think electric cars would be the main transportation means and photovoltaics would be the predominant energy generators.
Oh, wait... someone made that movie just a couple years ago.... oh....

In regards to societal collapse, I mean, it's coming right? Assuming you're not a climate change denier, we're talking decades before things are predicted to take a really bad turn for the worse. That's assuming something doesn't come along before it. When things do go south, you're going to want guns.
People keep posting the doomsday clock on this site, and flipping out because Trump is going to get us all killed. Is that reaction just an act?
There's a hilarious mix em up in the people who are preparing for doomsday who don't believe in climate change and think Trump is great, and the people who think climate change is going to break the world, and Trump is Hitler, who don't think anyone needs guns.
They're all fucking stupid is my general opinion.

Hellooo?? They use satellite to find your exact position and air strike you and your buddies with a plane that travels at the speed of sound. Boom. Game over. Tudu tudutu tudu tu du.

Things have gone to hell in such places as Yemen and Venezuela but people still haven't started eating each other. If they can make it there should be some hope for you.

"Others have it worse" is not an excuse to let things get worse here.

'Hell' is relative. A landscape that reduces the human population by billions is going to be rougher than the conditions in Venezuela/Yemen.
