LOL, Mormons had to change their edicts and strictures and dogma to loosen up all their racial bullshit so they could attract more people of color to fleece.
It's always about the church coffers with them.

And it was done entirely by executive fiat.
All the scriptures are still there, just deemed inapplicable by their powers that be.

Yep. Firmly rooted in the early 19th century.

Quote:Mormon church threatening to excommunicate bishop demanding children not be interviewed alone behind closed doors
Quote:Sam Young, staged a 23-day hunger strike calling attention to the church practice of “interviewing” children behind closed doors without anyone else present. The practice has raised questions about sexual abuse of children at the hands of powerful church leaders.
The LDS Church sees it as part of their work to guide, teach and inspire young LDS members. Children younger than 11 can be interviewed in preparation for baptism, but most times the young person is older.
“The elder Mormon man routinely sits alone in a closed-door conversation with a younger woman, or even a teenage girl, talking about, of all things, sex,” The Salt Lake City Tribune reported.
Yeah.... a Joey Smith ass-kissing pervert it seems.

I wonder if, like pedo priests, they sit there are jack off while the kids are answering.

Some of them probably did. My thinking is that a culture of sexual repression is fertile ground upon which predators shame their victims into submission. Hence, I see Mormonism (and all sexually repressive ethoi-- including all Catholicism and Protestantism) as predatory by their very natures.
Let people have normal, natural sexual feelings without guilt. Christianity has sustained an environment where sexual predators use power and shame to make victims feel like they are the one's at fault for being raped. All the while condemning consensual sex that falls outside the parameters of the limits set by ancient Judaic law.
Moral cowardice at its best.

Texas Mormon faces excommunication for asking church to stop asking explicit sexual questions of young children
And yet this is completely normal and usual stuff with Catholics, for priests to ask kids about masturbation. I mean remember Fellini's autobiographical movie Amarcord (1973), it has scenes like that
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

In every "outsider" documentary I've seen about Mormons, there's always some church bigwig PR guy butting in saying not to ask the interviewee about their sexuality, their sex lives or they sexual thoughts to which they may answer in whatever amount of detail they are comfortable with... but it's okay for their bishop to ask sexually explicit questions of them that they will feel like they have to answer because of that bishop's authority over them?
Bullshit.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.
