RE: Looking for an intelligent, rational discussion re atheism
lol, not a single fucking kudos, and people wonder why I resort to cheap insults and comic jabs. To hell with you bastards, I'm going fishing.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Hey, so sorry I dropped off yesterday. I'm on prescription meds that knock me out quickly. So, I'm not sure I follow. Can you reword that maybe? What do you mean by "the queation is framed poorly"?

Esoteric experiences, as in initiation into mystery religion, smacks to me of an altered state of the brain-but not in a divine way. I think the case is more one for hypnotism. LSD was touted as the gateway to such experiences, too. It's merely a mind-altering hallucinogen.

There is no real evidence, or, if there is, the Moody Blues should get together and rewrite that song.

By the way, welcome.

1,000,000 are birds
3,000,000 are beasts
400,000 are human species

So, I was bored and no one else wanted to take up the gauntlet. How often do you get to qoute yourself anyway?

Here's where we filthy materialists weight in.
Animals: estimated 3-30 million species
|
|--Invertebrates: 97% of all known species
| `--+--Sponges: 10,000 species
| |--Cnidarians: 8,000-9,000 species
| |--Molluscs: 100,000 species
| |--Platyhelminths: 13,000 species
| |--Nematodes: 20,000+ species
| |--Annelida: 12,000 species
| `--Arthropods
| `--+--Crustaceans: 40,000 species
| |--Insects: 1-30 million+ species
| `--Arachnids: 75,500 species
|
`--Vertebrates: 3% of all known species
`--+--Reptiles: 7,984 species
|--Amphibians: 5,400 species
|--Birds: 9,000-10,000 species
|--Mammals: 4,475-5,000 species
`--Ray-Finned Fishes: 23,500 species

This is just Animalia. Don't even get me started on Bacteria, Fungus, and Plants. Some more amusing numbers. Insects make up 80%-90% of total species. The Rishis gave them the shaft, bad representation. The Rishis also believed there to be roughly 100x more human species than there are mammals in total. GG. There's really no way around it, these guys were talking out of their asses, or those that manufacture their statements where talking out of their asses (most likely the latter).

RE: Looking for an intelligent, rational discussion re atheism
Why are we discussing epistemic criteria of materialist philosophy and exploring claims from Hindu apologetics, etc., in a personal introduction thread? Is this not supposed to be about welcoming Fred to the forums and asking questions about him, his beliefs and where he comes from and so forth? If it is not something about Fred as a person, then it belongs in a separate thread under an appropriate subforum.

Greetings, Fred, and welcome to Atheist Forums. Question for you: What is your panentheism?
Man is a rational animal who always loses his temper when
called upon to act in accordance with the dictates of reason.
