LGBT shuts down science

Quote:That does not stop religious people from applying and getting in.

Nor should it.  Are you taking the stance the religious people should not apply and be admitted to secular institutions?  Might be the best thing for them.

Quote:And as old as that college is, you cannot claim that it was not more religious when it was founded.

I'm not.  I'm disputing your claim that it IS a religious college.

Quote:I graduated from a college Jerry Falwell left. Moron claimed it was because my college didn't teach "real Christianity". My college started out as deeply religious when it was founded, but over the years it scrapped that and became secular.

Ok, so your own school went from religious to secular, but you seem to think it was impossible for Brown to do the same.  Double standard much?

Quote:Just like you cannot separate Notre Dame from it's Catholic start.

The comparison is not a fair one - Notre Dame IS a religious school, always has been.

Quote:The college I graduated from had originally a very Christian name.

Ok.  Immaterial, but ok.

Quote:Brown's shield has a cross on it. If it were 100% neutral and secular it would not have that.

Maybe you should stop repeating claims that have been debunked.  It's a St. George's cross, and exemplifies England, not Christianity. I have a menorah and two Qurans in my home, that doesn't make me either Jewish or Muslim.

Brown is not a religious school.  Keep repeating that to yourself until it sinks in.

It is a "St George Cross"

Nope, nothing religious about Saints. And Imams have nothing to do with Islam and Rabbis have nothing to do with Jews.

Oh, ffs.  You're basing your whole argument on an emblem on the school crest that was created more than a quarter millennium ago.  By your standards, you're a Christian if you've ever bought someone a Christmas gift, or if you've ever worn green on St Patrick's Day.  Ever owned a Swiss Army knife?  You must be a Christian. Ever donated to the Red Cross?  You must be a Christian. Is there money in your pocket that says, 'In God We Trust'?  You must be a Christian.

Your point about Brown is completely wrong and stupid.  Admit you spoke in haste and move on.

The most hardcore trans advocates definitely are ready to ignore science to fit their world view. The evidence for that is pretty clear.

The reality is that trans women are not the same as women, biologically, in brain chemistry. Its also clear that there ARE parts of the brain that are different that cisgendered men as well. If scientists of the future examined the skeletons and dna of a trans woman, are they going to conclude they were a woman or a man?

Trying to block scientific studies shows on trans people just shows weakness in ones belief. If you really believed trans people are mentally healthy people who's other mental health problems are because of discrimination and not because gender dysmorphia is real, then you should be in favor of studies like this, because the more it's studied, the more the truth comes out.

The ONLY reason to shut down any scientific study, is to avoid the truth. Even if the study had flawed methodology, (no evidence presented that it does) you still need to be in favor of it, because that means you can set up a similar one with he correct methodology and see what the other results are.

Scientific consensus doesn't happen from a single study, but from many of them teaching the same results. So if the methodology is flawed, that will come out with the next study and eventually you get to an objective truth.

Some trans advocates have just made up their mind already with no science and are offended at even looking into whether or not their ideas are true. That is no what we should be doing.

Anti-Trans bigots just cherry pick studies that support what they want it to say. That's not science in the least. Anti-trans bigots can go get fucked with a rusty machete.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

I literally can't believe you just argued that one should be in favor of flawed studies.

And in the end, it doesn't matter either way, because concerning the origin of the claim, it's not just wrong, it's a fallacy.

It never ceases to amaze me how hateful Xtians are. Maybe that's why they make so much of a fuss about loving thy neighbour. As much to convince themselves as anyone else.

Too right.  It seems that if Brown was a religious school, it would be mentioned in their admission policies, or their mission statement or...something.  As far as I can tell, it isn't.

And, for what it's worth, I attended two avowedly religious universities (Queens and Trinity) and obtained perfectly secular education at each one.

Boru

Did you shoot any catholics from the belltower while at Trinity?

Quote:* The study was based on parental reporting rather than evidence from the children themselves.
* The study was advertised, and participants were collated from websites who are well known to be anti-trans and was not representative of the general population. The published research into “rapid onset gender dysphoria” consists entirely of one 2017 abstract of an online survey of 164 parents sourced from anti-trans groups!
* There are no clinical features of “ROGD” that have been identified to distinguish it from the traditional form of dysphoria.
* What appears to a parent to be a “rapid” onset may not have been rapid for their child at all, as it is based wholly on parental reports
* There is no evidence presented to support the claim that children became gender dysphoric as a result of social coercion.

Not mention the study has issues in regards to the null hypothesis .

The original study (though the whole things appears to be an abstract that sets off some serious red flags )

Here's Trans group against the study and there case for why they object to the study on scientific grounds unlike Beta's false framing of  the issue .

So it's Regnerus mark 2 then. Whell what did I expect when am's criteria for scientific validity being "if the nazis would have usedit then it's good, unless it goes against the bible or big business".
