There is a clear distinction between "reality" and "Ultimate Reality" - which is why the dictionary found it necessary to use the latter rather than just the former.

Ultimate reality is not in any dictionary as far as I'm aware because its merely a term used within philosophy to indicate the underlying nature of reality.

If you want to talk about 'god' then address the concept by its correct label, don't be ambiguous about it.

I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. In what sense what Carl Sagan a genius? He wasn't even a good scientist as we can see. But he was an exciting tv presenter - sometimes. It had more to do with the camera work than anything he had to say. I used to turn off his voice and just enjoyed the beautiful pictures of space without the annoyance of him whining on about how he was just bits of dumb matter that would eventually fall apart and disperse - and nothing else. Boring.

He didn't claim to know with absolute certainty, that there is no afterlife. He disbelieved there is an afterlife.

There is no faith required in disbelieving something for which there is no supporting evidence.
