Not that avoiding self extermination will do us any good. "Jesus" will be back to finish the job "god" started with the "flood" any day now.....any day now.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

As this ecosystem holds all of the intelligent life I'm aware of, that doesn't mean we are unique in the universe. We have however had a long enough period without being wiped out by an asteroid entirely to develop intelligence and develop into what we have today in about 1/14th of the time our sun has before it goes out. That gives me hope that we can overcome our intelligent differences and prevent self-destruction to protect ourselves from extinction. In the meantime, we're very finite beings comparatively. If not worrying about some Aztec god's vengeance works for you then, more power to you. If you see no evidence for God, or god(s) then no one is asking you to believe something impossible.
You believe in a god who is deaf and mute.

I will politely disagree Jehanne, in this thread at least. I don't even remember how we got so far off topic
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

I love how Drich is always explaining things by attributing motives to others. The man who can't even read an article on global warming and derive a correct conclusion from it thinks he can read minds. It's astounding.

If God is supposedly all powerful, with the ability to create supposedly infinitely far more special things than universes (all while being enormously effortless for God to supposedly do), why do Christians feel themselves or the universe to be so special?
2. Why do Christians feel they or the universe is so special, despite that God would have supposedly easily created infinitely more valuable, infinitely more special things than this universe, within his supposed omnipotency?
3. Note: This universe is by far, theistically describable as not the best God could create, and in theistic theory, God would have in his supposed omnipotency, created far better, far more valuable things.
4. Or is the famed theistic supposedly omnipotent God, ironically limited to creations of merely the level of the specialness or value of this universe?
In simpler words, if we go by the definition of omnipotence, this would indicate that this universe's creation is not the end of God's supposedly unending power.
Just because you haven't seen all of what God has created doesn't mean He hasn't created other special things. Name us something more awesome than a universe that was spoken into existence in six days. Something more than billions of galaxies. You do understand that what we observe today is not the perfectly ordered universe God created, sin has taken it's price on all of creation, the price of sin is extremely high.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Personally, I find a universe that formed naturally over billions of years far more awesome than a parlor trick.

I would too, if it happened that way but it didn't the universe was created by God in six days, now that is spectacular.

What is spectacular is the complete denial of the evidence that it takes to believe such a thing.
