Doesnt he also want an end to public education? And the USA to become a non inteventionalist country?

I'm not big on us politics, so any help on policies would be greatly appreciated.

RE: US Presidential Election 2012
Running the risk of riling those who feel otherwise, we already have a country where people can be prosperous and free. Point me to a place that better fits this description? It isn't his "tear down this government" rhetoric that I dislike. I wholeheartedly agree that the government extends itself too far, in too many directions. It's the dogged reliance on our constitution as a near "sacred" text, and resistance to any sort of social programs that might lift us up above oh I don't know, Cuba for example, in critical areas. Ron Paul seems to have a "it was better back in the day" approach to any given issue. This just isn't the case.

One of the best ways to illustrate this is "states rights". I sometimes think that people looking in from say, the UK, don't truly grasp how vast our country is. There was a point where state governments where very much in control of the show, and I'm not talking ancient history here (the US doesn't have any of that, as such). Law enforcement, taxation, standards of living, these were all massive issues then. Why on earth would would we want to revert to a system that promotes this sort of thing to an even greater extent? Great quote from his Daily Show interview a couple days back "Some States would do better than others". WTF? This is the United States of America. We don't have oceans bordering each individual State. What affects some of us affects all of us. Those in the grips of absolute poverty, will for example, be the ones holding the guns at those that are not. We started this thing off with the whole "Great Experiment" business right? Change the world? How about we man the fuck up and try that? All I've ever heard in response to progressive policies is "it's too hard". Well boo fucking hoo, when did we start giving up because things were difficult?

I don't follow much of American politics any more... It is the same every time... I get frustrated watching so many fools.
Then, they interview people on the street, oh dear... Brain malfunction.

I just get angry at politics over here, I hate Torys... Apart from the Scottish government... Alex Salmond is doing well. "May his first child be a masculine one"

Who would you vote for if it was held tomorrow.

Yes smart arses i know i spelt Obama wrong.
But to make up for it i spelt Retardican wrong as well.

Well , I don't vote FOR any politician or party,I vote against the bigger shower* on offer. In the US that seems to be the Republicans by a narrow margin.

Here, our Prime Minister is the leader of the party in power. His party may remove him from office at any time simply by electing a new leader. That is exactly what happened a year ago when Tin Tin (Kevin Rudd) was thrown out and Lady Macbeth ( Julia Gillard) installed as leader and PM--and a right pig's breakfast she's made of the job too.Angry

If I was voting for a president, I'd want a person not too smart, cunning ruthless and capable of controlling congress and the senate. In short,a capable arsehole; Lyndon Johnson comes to mind,or even Nixon. So obviously, I'd be voting AGAINST Obama and anyone else who was all sizzle and no steak. In my opinion he's the most ineffective president since Carter.(but a charming man)

We do not have lame ducks, we just have incompetent careerists such as Lady Macbeth (the opposition is fucking WORSE!)

If a government cannot govern, there is a double dissolution and an election. Here the government may call an election at any time during its term in office. Is that not possible under the US System? (here there is no limit one the number of terms a PM may serve.)

Presidents can be impeached, but it isn't easy. Limit of two terms.

Eh.
Thanks to the past four years, the choices seem to come down to replublican or Obama, who will fold to congress's republican demands like wet paper in a hurricane.
Were I a republican without the blind hatred of those "Libtards" then I basically couldn't loose, esepecially were I a billionaire oligarch who hates poor people.

Most likely, I would begrudgingly vote again for Obama just because a weaksauce democrat is better than the guys who are fine with the 19th century way of economics and getting rich people set up to basically rule America like Monarchs.
On the other hand, I could always vote for Ron Paul just out of spite for both parties since the Republicans don't really like him either.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan
