Human garbage = those that wiillfully screw other people for profiit - aka lowlife thieves....

What makes you think there was deliberate deception in this case? It sounds to me like your knowledge of automobiles is well above average. Why do you assume the owner knew of the situation?
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

The replaced rear tire is a dead giveaway.

When the mount first rusted out - and quit limiting the rear wheels tracking - it would have destroyed the tire. The typical driver would not notice the change in handling. I would. I know. I have two other cars ( kept for parts) where the exact same failure occurred. Once for me, and once for my SO. She noticed hers right away, as did I - because we both had lots of miles in this model. ( My SO bought her 96 new and put 360,000 miles on it. My 95, I put 140,000 on it, and my 2nd 95 30,000 or so when the failure occurred.

When the tire went out - shredded - I would bet the tire store advised the owner of the problem - and told them the new tire would not go 100 miles before shredding. They would be criminal, not to.

So there' s little doubt in my mind.

So I’m not understanding what’s happened here... you already bought the car?

Or you still want to buy the car even though this person is trying to screw you?

If you already bought the car, you’re screwed. If you still haven’t bought the car but want to haggle the price down, you’re probably SOL. People like that have no interested in building long term business relationship. They’d rather screw you one good time, get a quick 500 dollar profit and never see you again.

No. I did not buy it. I found the terminal damage immediately.

I also texted the owner - and told them that I was not interested as the vehicle should only sold as parts.

Okay, bullet dodged! What exactly are you asking about then? I think you did the right thing in choosing not to deal with this crook.

It just rankles me - as this turd is stll maintaining the ad on Craigslist. They can' t plead ignorance. They know they' re trying to rip somebody off "legally".

What i would LIKE to do is place an ad on the same page that would read " see this ad? This prick is trying to rip you off".

But that would probably violate the Craigslist UEA.

Why not just report the ad?  Seems easy enough.

Ah I see. That’s a tough one... are you able to comment on the ad or leave reviews, is he advertising anywhere else like Facebook or a local buy sell trade page? What about reporting him to craigslist?

I always wonder what the difference is between the guy who is trying to rob people by lying to them, and the guy who literally robs people on the street. I keep thinking that the guy who tries to rob me at gunpoint is more honest. I think that I respect him a little more.

I would give them both zero respect.
