You  sport the name of a man who understood the world, and you have no fucking clue what' s what.

You really don' t see the problem - because you refuse to accept reality.

(As do all gun ban proponents)

.....

Show ONE  example of enslavement of a populous - that did NOT start with a disarming of that population.......

....

And hint - you and me ain't so special that " that will never happen HERE".....

How many people do you know walk around with a semi-automatic rifle for self-defense?

And do you really believe a “well-armed militia” could stave off the enslavement of their country against ther modern day military?

Stupid ....

We carry semi- auto PISTOLS for self defense... ( try concealinng an AK47..)

You think you can overcome enslavement WITHOUT guns???

Aint you the badass?

Our recent misadventures in the middle east strongly suggest that, yes, it can.

A more stinging criticism in this regard is that even if we could, we probably wouldn't.  The crushing majority of gun owners are going to go along with their governments, not fight against them.  We can sit here and imagine what our country would do and how we would respond..but if the us declared itself an ethnostate, for example...a statistically significant portion of gun owners would be popping off rounds in celebration rather than defiance, lol.

And in the middle East - US troops were not being told to nengasge US citizens...

I think the CinC that tries giving that order will have a very short career.....

But, a longer neck.....

I'm no military strategist, but I strongly suspect that if private citizens have to go up against the US army, they're going to have rather a rough go of it.  You know, those tanks and, whaddyacallem - bombers.

And if that eventuality comes to pass - you think they' ll do better unarmed?

Interesting theory.

The " bend over and just take it" paradigm?

Nah, not really.  Those bombs aren't as smart as we tell people they are...and th breadth and topography of the US is -exactly- the sort of shit that the majority of the army isn't trained for....even if those of us that were explicitly trained for that eventuality are now "bury my guns and wait" civilian types...... Tanks aren't even an issue, they're a liability, it's the goddamned APCs. If I had my choice I'd take on an abrams every day, but I never want to see a brad or a lav roll up on me.

We're ungovernable except by consent, to our pride and shame in equal measure. My property is the kind of terrain that any co just drives past and puts out of his mind. You;d have to order someone under threat to assault it, or me...and it wouldn't be worth it if you did.

They didn't realize it was a possibility????

Well, everyone has 20/20- hindsight . At the time New Zealand was a rated THE safest  county in the world in which to live. In a list I posted earlier, Oz is 18th and the US is 85th

"Now the peons have to count on big brother to protect them.....

"Yeah, sure... THAT always works....."

Another snide, ignorant remark. Your paranoia  is not my problem

In OZ, there have been  NO mass shootings since strict gun laws were introduced in 1996; that's 23 YEARs dickhead.

In terms of gun related crimes;  perhaps check the facts before running off at the mouth and displaying your paranoid ignorance.

I always find it bizarre when people see the urge to defend oneself from criminals, crazies, etc. as "paranoia." You call it paranoid, and have suggested only people with enemies need be afraid of gun violence... and yet, 50 people in your neck of the woods were just SLAUGHTERED while your people were unable to do anything about it. An unimaginable horror if you were in one of those shootings, a victim, or a family member/friend of a victim.

Are gun-owners paranoid, or are you naive?

I've been in situations where having a firearm on me literally saved my life. Am I paranoid? Or are you unwilling to accept that maybe there are some good reasons to own guns?
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

You sound like you live in a rough hood, man...allow me to suggest that a longer wallet would work better at saving your life, and that any amount of money you've spent on guns needlessly shortened that wallet.

I've spent a few k on guns for fun...but if I was in the ghetto..I'd be saving my money. The data is pretty clear. Having a gun doesn't do anything but make you more likely to get shot..by your own gun.

@EgoDeath

"Are gun-owners paranoid, or are you naive? "

Paranoid? No, certainly not. only the American ones. Are you paranoid? Absolutely, judging by the drivel you've been posting about guns, and trying to make relevant in Oz.

Am I naive about guns? . I like guns. I spent 2 years in the army as a grunt X medic. Rated marksman with 7.62 SLR ,proficient with F1 sub machine gun (piece of shit) M60 machine gun, armalite, Karl Gustav anti tank, M26 and M36 grenades. Have never handled pistols.

The very thought of large numbers of civilians owning guns scares the shit out of me---as group, people with guns are so fucking STUPID! I think US gun related stats prove that point. I do not
own a firearm, and have never allowed one on my property.

To avoid misunderstanding; I am not a vet and did not serve in a combat zone.

I say again, Australia is not the US.

"That maybe there are some good reasons to own guns?"

Absolutely; if you are say a policeman, a member of the armed forces or say farmer who needs to shoot foxes and 'roos, or even if you belong to a gun club, and all guns are kept at the club in locked safes. (that's the law here ) If you are simply an ordinary person living an OZ city, no you don't need a firearm . I say again: our stats for gun related deaths prove my claim..

The claim of needing a gun for protection is complete bullshit. Even with advanced weapons training, it is exceedingly difficult to actually shoot another person**. Joe Sixpack is more likely to freeze, shit himself and shoot the wife.

I don't give rat's arse what you do in the US.

Bored now, nothing more to say to yo on this issue. I will agree to differ.

**Don't believe that? A simple fact known since WW2 at least. Easy to verify if you're interested.
