If my death would insure the extinction of those whom can't be rehabilitated, I would die for it. What's my life compared to the lives of my children who might one day fall victim to a sociopath? Nothing. I don't just feel that way about my own kids, but all the good and harmless people in the world.
I've lived an interesting, amazing life. I'm not afraid to die, especially for a good cause. The only tragedy would be if I hadn't finished writing my memoir.

Why not?
Because good people have to pay for the boxes.
Neither am I. I have been in similar situations as well.
The thought of killing someone ELSE who is innocent is my problem.

For you..but what about the jury that has to take peoples words on it?

Wild emotion is no logical argument to sink to their level. If we based our punishments off of people's "feelings" like that... ugh...
Locking them up for long is the answer. Best solution is that they live a very long life and die, never able to escape. Never able to live. Never able to grow.

My ex was charged with MURDER because he had a beer, went to the store to get more beer, was pulling out of the parking lot, and the son of the richest man in town was doing over 100 mph on a motorcycle (chasing after a girl, on heroine), and crashed into him as he pulled out. He sat in jail for a year before the whole thing was overturned.
So I can see where you are coming from on that, but at the same time, I think it isn't terribly difficult to identify a true sociopath/psychopath as someone who can't be rehabilitated and separate them from the one's who respond to rehab.
Like I said, I am more against life sentences than pro death penalty.

Money well spent, in my opinion. Cheaper than keeping them alive for an unknown number of years. You can reuse rope.

The fact that you advocate using rope and by extension, hanging, kinda makes you out to be a rather ghoulish individual. At a bare minimum, it certainly colors what you say.
Certainly seems to be quite savage to sink to the savage's level.

And the cost is surprisingly high, Phae.

Repealing the death penalty in North Carolina, where 169 prisoners are on death row, could save that state $11 million a year in incarceration costs and legal fees associated with the extensive appeals process, according to a study published in American Law and Economics Review in December.

Sociopaths use rope to tie up their victims before they rape them, douse them in gasoline and set them on fire. But I'm a ghoulish individual for thinking those hopeless pieces of shit should hang? I can handle that.

Yup. It's a huge waste of resources.

I used to be a supporter of the death penalty for certain heinous crimes. I have been rethinking this position and no longer support it.
Were justice perfect and mistakes never made, I might be able to continue supporting capital punishment - however, in light of the way that it's actually implemented in the U.S.A., I cannot.
A mistaken conviction cannot be reversed if the person is dead. No system of justice is perfect, and wrongful convictions must have an avenue for reversal.
Let the worst offenders who cannot be allowed to be amongst the general population rot in prison for life with no chance of parole (e.g. cases of premeditated murder, rape of a child, kidnapping-for-profit, treason in wartime, etc). I'd probably also throw in the most egregious cases of corporate and political corruption as well.

When it comes to dealing with murderers, what exactly is the logic behind killing them in order to teach everyone else that killing people is wrong?
I'm completely opposed to capital punishment. An execution costs far more than life in prison, and I just don't see the point in killing people in order to teach a lesson. Execution just seems like an attempt for people to achieve some sort of closure or something. It's a very vengeful and low concept, after all, killing these people doesn't fix the things they've done, it just costs time, effort and money.
