- When people claim things are God's "plan". Such as the death of a 5 year old child...

- Indoctrination under the guise of "Homeschooling". Idiotic brainwashed women who pump out 6,7,8 kids (with the permission of the husband, of course), and then barricade them at home so they can't think for themselves. Teach the girls how to be brainless homemakers who are supplicants to all men (aka help meet). Hello, child abuse! Shit should be illegal.

How about you? What topic gets you worked up?

When people say "I believe in science".

My sister's on dating sites, and sometimes some guy usually when responding to questions of religious beliefs, would say he believes in science. My advice to her is stay away such people like the  plague. An atheist is perfectly fine, but a guy who says he "believes in science", is just slightly worse than a sociopath, just more lame.

Have you ever sat down and thought about what your life would be like without science and all of its benefits?

Science isn't a being so it doesn't give us any benefits. "This is poison, and this is a plant that resolves indigestion" It doesn't say here take this one, but not the other.

I'd add your comment to the list of annoying things religious people say.

I always find it ironic when people use a computer and a modem to access the internet to decry science.

Have you ever had an inoculation? Surgery?  Do you take any medications? Do you own a toaster or drive a car?  Do you have a cell phone?  Do you eat food?  Do you poop indoors? Do you live in a house with running water and electricity?  Do you wear manufactured clothing?  Benefits of science, mate.

I’m not decrying science, I’m decrying scientism.

I’m decrying those who point to computers and modems, which as about true as pointing to warts and cancer, and flesh eating viruses.

What I am thankful for is purpose, for giving us modems and computers .

Well, there's certainly nothing wrong with decrying scientism - it's false on the face of it.

But 'belief in science' is hardly the same thing as supporting scientism.  Disbelief in science, which appears to be your position (correct me if I'm wrong) is so obviously wrong that it borders on the perverse.  Science is a methodology, and that methodology exists.  Not believing in science is precisely the same as not believing in Australia or icicles or beef stroganoff.

How can you disbelieve in something that manifestly exists?

I've watched videos of these so called creationist "preachers" stand in front of a crowd of kids teaching them to be willfully ignorant by having them chant "where you there?" if told the earth was 3.5 billion years old. In my opinion this makes me sick and is the definition of evil only spurred from religion.

The fundies get me riled up the most. Especially when they want to augment the science curriculum.

'Teach the controversy' is code for 'classroom preaching'.

I guess its certain personality types that worry me the most.  I would say fundy-think types worry me.  Weather they are pushing must-be-my-god or we-must-reject-everything.

both stances are seriously dysfunctional and put the rest of us in danger.
