BULLSHIT.

Race is a social construct that strongly affects our social goings on. Denying that only makes it worse. This simplistic attitude comes from your privilege and it fans the flames.

I think the point is missed on the mermaid. Sure skin color is a social construct based on our natural need to classify, sure it is prevelant and influences society greatly. The question is why should it and is it healthy to fuel tribalism that leads to anarchy and riots. It’s not denying anything to say something is stupidly Detrimental. Many atheist here feel the same way about religious institutions. What value do each of us put on these classifications: race, religion, ethnicity, class, background, history? What value to we place on the actions, words and deeds of the individual? Those are good questions here.

No.

Final answer.

Nope, I see them as patriots, in the same manner that history speaks of the perpetrators of the Boston tea party.

You are equating a stolen kiss to a gang rape.

The Boston Tea Party was carried out by a group of drunks who targeted only one thing -tea that was being overtaxed - to deny the Crown their cut. The colonialists were actually civil about it - cleaning the decks of the ships when they were through. George Washington thought it was a bad idea - and Ben Franklin thought the East India Tea Co. should have been reimbursed.

The riots you favor are the acts of criminal fucks who should rot in prison. They wontonly destroy the property of their neighbors for the thrill of it.

They are not patriots.

They are assholes. Like you.

It saddens me that you see speaking out against systemic and institutional racism (that has been going on for literally hundreds of years) as "tribalism".

It's not about the value people put on race. This is about people being unjustly treated BECAUSE of their race. It's not "Liberty and justice for all", rather "Liberty and justice for SOME".

Black Americans are dying at the hands of police because they are black. There is absolutely no denying that.

I posted this on the other Atheist forum. I think Trevor Noah has hit the nail on the head. I strongly urge everyone to watch it, but especially his comments about our societal contract from 8:17 to 12:04.

If blacks want to change the attitude of their local PD -  become a cop. Encourage your friends and relatives to become cops.

You are never going anywhere as long as you keep the "us vs them" mentality......

Or go burn down your neighborhood.

Your choice.

You might want to take a closer look at who's on the ground in these cities. Including the loads of white boys being bussed in to "help".

BLM is not "us"--Catch my drift? Whatever they might have been before, they sold out years ago.
And where they go, Antifa follows.
They're both bankrolled by George Soros and other white radical Leftists; and the safety and betterment of black people is not on their agenda.

Food for thought.

I get all that, I'd include white supremacists in that group too, all that means is they can't pin all the blame on black folk. More importantly the reason we are even at this point is because people tried to peacefully protest police brutality by taking a knee, but were shouted down, now even the police are taking a knee to protest police brutality...  These riots have them shook so I can't really argue with the results.

Don't you have to acknowledge his point though? This isn't the first riot we have seen and yet we still have these problems, at some point don't you have to weigh the destruction versus the impact? Not to say that it can't ever be effective but in terms of police brutality on minorities it hasn't really been all that effective.
I never said riots were good . I simply said he got nothing better .

Actually they aren't destroying the property of their neighbors, according to the St. Paul Mayor, everyone that was arrested was from out of town...

The data, taken from , shows that nearly all of the people arrested in likely connection to the riots live in Minneapolis or the metro area.

I remember Rodney King and back then, I thought "12 against one, he is unarmed". It doesn't matter if blacks resist or do not resist. Nobody deserves to be beaten or murdered. If one is more concerned about property than human life their priorities are not in order. Saying one doesn't want buildings burned down and businesses destroyed is QUITE NORMAL. But unless you are willing to face the long history of inequity and abuse nothing will change.

Sandra Bland died in a jail cell. Eric Garner was choked to death. George had his hands handcuffed behind him with a knee on his neck.

Saying people shouldn't destroy property doesn't change the long term conditions that lead desperate people to react. You keep punching someone in the face eventually they react. It is human nature, even if you don't want the reactions. It is not up to blacks to explain anything. It is up to whites to listen and stand with the victims.

How is it the Irwins can move a 15-20ft crocodile from one enclosure to another without killing it or using weapons, but unarmed black people don't make it to the back of the car or to court even over non violent calls? Even blacks prefer non violent protest. But it has been over 50 years since the murder of Martin Luther King Jr, and there still isn't economic and legal equality.
