I know what we're both swinging at, does not make yours more correct/better, only different.

The kids probably black, too...if recent patterns hold.

I'd love to be proven wrong. [ sigh ]

Still, I think about how you must love this woman you've made a stable life with.  I imagine all of the things you love her for.....and I wonder what about that changes if she stepped out....to have a kid.

I'm not guaranteeing that this is what happened (though I think it's almost certain, if so), but your suspicions that it did is why you made these posts, is it not?  Is that not what you're grappling with?  Is that not why you shared?

If my wife walked out on me because I was unable to have children, and she wanted children...I would be very upset.  I would be other things as well.  One of them...is a good dad and a good lover.  You?

Actually no.

I have no suspicions of foul play with her.  This post is about how life put me in a place of lack of choice.  It's also about how I've never wanted kids, and didn't get the chance to spend a couple of years with her first before jumping into this.

If it does turn out that the kid isn't yours - talk to a lawyer.

Things could get very complicated if the other guy decides he wants his parental rights. Biological parents (and even grandparents) have rights in most (perhaps all) states.

You could end up in a three way marriage of sorts AND if you later decide to bail - you could still get stuck with child support.

Don't assume it will be "we're all one big happy family now".

Hopefully you beat the odds and it IS yours...

Good luck..

As soon as your name is on the birth certificate no other asshole has any rights.

Yes and no.

Yes if the biological father isn't interested.

However. If he decides he wants to he can file an affidavit of paternity with the court. If the mother signs the affidavit - the biological father can be given full rights. If she doesn't sign it - the court orders DNA testing and decides based on the outcome of the test.

But - once signed the non - biological daddy can't decide to bail -and not pay court ordered child support.
