Escalating violence as armed protests planned in all 50 state capitals

RE: Escalating violence as armed protests planned in all 50 state capitals
And OLB continues his false comparisons.

What happened in a few American cities?

A few people acted out resulting in some damage because they were mad cops killed a black man in their custody. A blip in an overwhelmingly peaceful movement that was more than not was driven to violence by the overreaction of the police, And the action of violent elements have no long term or broad consequence and are a minimal threat.

What happened in Washington?

A bunch of insurrectionists egged on by the president of the United States committed treason against the United States by storming the capital building with the intent of ending American democracy as we know it by installing their cult leader as a dictator. They intended to take captives (they brought restraining devices). They likely intended to burn the capitol building down (they brought Molotov Cocktails) They called the murder of the Vice President and threatened the lives of the leadership of the US. They planted bombs in front of the HQ's of the two major political parties and planning to do more of the same across the US. There is a reason the FBI considers right-wing terrorism the biggest current domestic threat to the US and this is it.

So this comparison isn't even wrong and could only be suggested by someone trying to push a false narrative or someone with no sense of perspective or scale.

Also, the population is homogeneous enough even on a state-wise basis that a civil war is pretty much out of the question. My chump-supporting neighbors may have signs (STILL!?) in their front yards, but I don't expect them to go marching in brigades in the streets.
A civil war may not be the right term for it, but it seems like it might be something similar. I'm torn between calling it sectarian violence (although religion is, if anything, incidental to these conflicts), wondering whether we even have proper polisci terms for what looks like is going to happen if this horseshit goes anywhere beyond “civil unrest” (which has kind of been the default in America for years if not decades), and just saying "the Hell with it" and calling it a civil war anyway (since A) looking at the English Civil War it turns out that a full-on secession like America had in 1860 isn't necessary for something to count as a Civil War, and B) that's what the people doing this actually want it to be.)

Committing crimes is always a bad thing. When a protest turns violent and people loot businesses, that's certainly a crime and deserves punishment. But when a mob attacks a federal government building with bombs and assaults police with the intent to disrupt government business, that's a completely different matter. Case in point, looting carries a penalty of around 1 year in jail, more if it occurs during a national emergency. Sedition carries a penalty of 20 years in prison. If the two crimes are exactly the same, they would carry at least similar penalties. Why is sedition more serious? Simple, because it is an assault on the very framework of our government and could result in the destruction of our country. Looting is dangerous and destructive but could never cause as serious harm unless it was carried out over the entire country simultaneously.
Why is it so?

Our MAGA governor's statements on guns at the upcoming protest.

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts said during his Tuesday news conference that he would not prohibit the carrying of weapons in the state Capitol because of the second amendment. Ricketts said the Nebraska Capitol building would remain open next week despite FBI warnings of potential threats at all 50 state capitals and Washington, D.C. surrounding the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden. The governor said no ban on guns in the state Capitol would be considered, answering twice that it was a violation of the 2nd Amendment. “It’s a Constitutional right, the second amendment,” he said.

Encouraging peaceful protests, the governor did acknowledge that Nebraska has an open-carry law. “Please protest peacefully. Also, be thoughtful there are people here who are nervous when you bring your guns out, so be thoughtful of that as well.”

Big Grin I've done some wild things in my life, but actively courting death wasn't among them.

"Alright patriots!  We gather in Little Rock today to take back our state from the communist pedophiles!"
Uproarious huzzahs.
"Yeah!  But hey, sorry to interrupt, Jimmy."
"Billy!  Good to see you, no, go ahead."
"Don't we already control the folks in there?  I mean, they're on our side.  They just lack the means to overcome the communist pedophiles."
"Godammit, Billy, it's not about overcoming pedophiles, it's about patriotism, branding and merch tables."
Bigger uproarious huzzahs.
"I love you Jimmy!  But hey, seriously, we need to be gone before dark."

Kashoggi has nothing to do with the current events at the US Capitol.
