While it's too early to tell, especially with COVID as a confounding factor, the heightening of racial tensions is by no means the only explanation for the sudden spike in the murder rates. This article lists several other possibilities, things like trust in police going down the toilet and people resorting to street justice to resolve disputes up to and including murder, or, indeed, the economy tanking, thrusting more people into poverty (a state of affairs that tends to make people more likely to commit murder.) And, of course, it points out that everything's still up in the air.
And, for the record, there's been two autopsies of George Floyd, and, unfortunately, neither one really exonerates Chauvin. The article on crime further backed by this

Very true, but it does take away from the narrative that he was choked to death, although the 2nd autopsy says it was the neck and not heart failure that killed him. When I have conflicting autopsy reports, what am I to think?
Quote:
- Two autopsy reports said the manner of George Floyd’s death was a homicide. Neither said the cause of his death was a fentanyl overdose.
- The Hennepin County medical examiner found fentanyl in Floyd’s system, but the autopsy said the cause of his death was “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law-enforcement subdual restraint, and neck compression.”

And "neck compression," in this case, means that blood flow to the heart and brain were cut off, for instance, with a knee to your neck.

Lets say that you were kneeling on a cops neck...and after a few minutes of that, that cop suffered heart failure or asphyxiation. Take your pick. Is there any doubt in your mind that you would be charged?
He was charged and wanted to plead guilty to lesser charges but they wouldn't let him.
And I still don't know exactly how he died. Floyd was saying he thought he was going to die before he ever went to the ground. Maybe he could tell that his body was breaking down? Why did he think he would die if they put him in the back of the car, without the thought of a neck restraint even entering his mind?

Yup because he's not getting out of this by half measures

Or he was freaking panicking and wasn't near death at all. Your desperation is hilarious

This does not mean homicide in a legal sense. When a medical examiner calls it homicide, all that means is that someone died at the hands of another.

I don't think what Floyd said in slowly dying was any prediction. I do think it was excessive force though.

If you were hanging out with your friend and they started telling you that they were about to die, would you not think that something serious was going on inside of their body? Floyd said that before he went to the ground.
I agree that the force was excessive. I just think 2nd degree is too high a charge. If they let him plee to 3rd, people wouldn't have accepted that as justice, so they were kind of between a rock and a hard place.
Casey Anthony was guilty as heck but she got off because the jury wasn't sure as to the cause of death. Maybe I'll be wrong on this one and he'll get convicted. We'll see. I was right about the cop who killed Mike Brown and I was right about George Zimmerman being not guilty, but maybe this is where my streak of correct predictions ends.

And that literally doesn't mean he was dying

Nope 2nd is perfect
