At this point, I’m reminded of the scene from the first episode of Better Call Saul where Jimmy makes an eloquent defense of these kids who are accused of breaking into a mortuary and fucking a severed head. And all the prosecutor has to do is wheel a TV in and show the video of them doing it. Because by this point, the case is that clear.

Doesm’t matter whether Chauvin chocked his victim to death with prolonged pressure to the neck or prolonged forced exposure to carbon monoxide.    He is guilty of the same thing.

Which is a fair point. Even if he hadn’t been on Floyd’s neck, holding him in front of an exhaust pipe until he died isn’t exculpatory.

No shit . Out of all the cross examination, and defense arguments, this has to be the most fucking rediculous defense.

The purpose of the defense is to confuse, and provide talking points or cover for a potential police-friendly juror.

If they really wanted to prove that Floyd died of carbon monoxide poisoning, there would've been evidence of that.

"Reasonable Doubt" can sometimes be translated as "bulshit".

That’s the tactic: when reasonable doubt doesn’t exist, try to create it.

I doubt the CO defense is going to go anywhere or carry much weight with the jurors. It’s  equivalent to saying that Chauvin didn’t choke Floyd to death - he threw him off a cliff, so he’s not guilty.

Chauvin chose to plea the fith and not take the stand. Wise choice on his part. I think he got battered and taking the stand would hurt him even more. The judge had made it clear, and also instructed the jury, that his not taking the stand should not be equated to guilt or trying to hide something. That is right too.

But as an outside observer, after everything I have seen, I don't see how Chauvin doesn't get a conviction on something. Closing arguments start Monday. Prosecutor should simply pound home the 9 minutes and 3 minutes Floyd was passed out with no pulse. I don't think the jurry is going to buy all the distractions.

I don’t think it is possible to hurt himself more by talking.   taking the 5th merely additionally suggest a contempt for the proceedings comparable to his contempt for his victim’s life
