The other is being able to work from home...absolutely love it.  I don't have to deal with commuting, dressing a certain way, or annoying coworkers.

Trying to look for a silver lining in this miserably dark cloud.  <sigh>

I'm so tired of masks that I didn't think to wear one while blowing parched leaves from the roof and decks today.  Hello, ragweed season.

If I couldn't annoy coworkers, I'd never drive to town.

HaHa!

I went back and reread this after posting and debated writing it again...'annoying' coworkers as an action and 'annoying' coworkers as an adjective.

Both actually seemed fitting.

I think its funny that we get so put upon by shopping, for food especially. Image a woman living in the British Isles circa 500 saying such a thing. It just cracks me up. I know what you mean but we've become accustomed to so much convenience its just insane.

If you have unvaccinated friends, family, or co-workers, please send them this. Better yet, if at all possible, read it to them aloud.

I have never shopped as sport. I tend to go to stores with a specific purchase in mind...I am not one to browse. The idea of going shopping for something to do is just not something that interests me and it never has. The only exceptions were record stores and book stores, back in the day. Part of my aversion to grocery shopping is that I don't like to cook. The whole process of thinking about what to cook, what I need, looking for the items, unloading the cart, loading the stuff in the car, taking it in the house and putting it away just makes me want to weep. Then...then, being expected to take these purchases and turn them into meals...I just don't like any part of it.

I get that it's much easier than gardening (we would die, I'm a plant killer) and hunting/butchering...grocery shopping is just a chore I have never enjoyed...and actually dreaded.

I can certainly understand why it feels like a chore, although for me grocery shopping can be something of an adventure. Stores carry so many different products now and I do enjoy cooking, even getting lost in the process of selecting ingredients to create an awesome meal. I find it challenging to look for substitutions that are less expensive but work just as well. I love to turn up my music, pour a glass of wine and destroy the kitchen, making shit up as much as following recipes because that's the really fun part. And the climax of all that effort is the excitement of my family when they see what I've created. I started watching cooking shows back in the 80's when I was a teenager. Justin Wilson was the first chef I watched. I gha-rawn-tee!

I'll send you some coupons.

Were I to try to get creative in the kitchen, I would probably cause some sort of explosion. I am not an intuitive or creative cook. My sister, the foodie, loves to grocery shop....it's one of the things she hated, grocery store shopping being rushed and less pleasant due to COVID.

Texas schools have amassed more than 50,000 confirmed coronavirus cases in students in just a couple of weeks. The state is a leader in child deaths from COVID-19 with 59 as of Sept. 3.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

School started here on August 12th. I'm in a small town just outside of Dallas. Other area schools opened from then forward over the next couple weeks. This increase isn't a surprise as most schools have no mask mandates. I was fully expecting this to be the result of in-person school starting and Abbott and his cronies fighting the wearing of masks.

As it stands now, I see almost nobody wearing masks. I did have to wear a mask when I went for an eye exam the other day. It seems that medical clinics are the only places requiring the wearing of one.

Ah, Texas - where a virus has more rights than a pregnant woman.
