RE: Damned Catholics
(January 27, 2022 at 1:02 pm)Fake Messiah Wrote: Mississippi mayor withholds library funds unless LGBTQ+ books are purged

Mayor Gene McGee, who recently withheld a $110,000 payment to the Madison County Library System — roughly 5% of its yearly budget. When the library system’s director Tonja Johnson inquired about the money, she was told that McGee wouldn’t release it unless the system purged its shelves of all “homosexual materials.”

“He explained his opposition to what he called ‘homosexual materials’ in the library, that it went against his Christian beliefs, and that he would not release the money as the long as the materials were there,” the library director said.

The director then explained to the mayor that the library system, as a public entity, was not a religious institution. “I explained that we are a public library and we serve the entire community. I told him our collection reflects the diversity of our community,” Johnson said.

Apparently, the mayor was unmoved. “He told me that the library can serve whoever we wanted, but that he only serves the great Lord above,” she finished.

Federal government should shelve all funding to the mayor's town and it's cities until he apologises profusedly. See how long before he's out on his ear.

Ha, ha, "Don Euro"! How should they then call the Pope? Pope Gold Bar?

Quote:Village priest ‘Don Euro’ jailed for extortion after sex worker blew whistle

An Italian former priest dubbed “Don Euro” by his parishioners because he kept pestering them for money has been jailed for extorting a former bishop.

Luca Morini served as a priest in the Tuscan village of Pontasserchio before being defrocked by the Vatican amid a series of scandals, culminating with a court in Massa Carrara sentencing him on Wednesday to seven and a half years in prison for extortion.

He was also convicted of assuming a false identity after masquerading as a judge when hiring male sex workers but acquitted on charges of extorting a nun, drug dealing and money laundering.

Morini was reportedly considered “a good-natured priest” when he first arrived in Pontasserchio, a village of about 2,600 inhabitants close to Pisa. But he soon earned the nickname Don Euro after persuading his mostly elderly parishioners to donate generously to the church’s collection plate, with the money allegedly being splurged on parties, diamonds, luxury holidays with sex workers and visits to swingers’ clubs.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That old hypocrite, Pope Francis, made remarks at St. Peter’s Square condemning the genital mutilation of millions of girls and the trafficking of women for sex. “This practice, unfortunately widespread in various regions of the world, humiliates the dignity of women and gravely attacks their physical integrity,” he said, correctly.

Now if only the Catholic Church could recognize the dignity of women and their physical integrity in other situations, too.

RE: Damned Catholics
So Catholic priests neglect their children and are deemed to have dysfunctional families, but have a nerve to tell people if they can be proper parents

Quote:Calling on the Irish government to respond to the needs of children of priests

United Nations children’s rights committee document calls upon the Irish State to respond to the needs of children of priests. Section 33 and 34 of the 2016 UN document states in part that the committee is concerned about the “lack of measures to ensure that children fathered by Catholic priests are able to access information on the identity of their fathers” and is encouraging the state  “ensure measures to assist children fathered by Catholic priests in upholding their right to know and be cared for by their fathers, as appropriate, and ensure that they receive the necessary psychological treatment.”

There is no impediment in Irish law or policy to prevent Catholic priests who father children caring for their children. However, the state has no power to compel any person to care for a child. In 2017, the Irish Episcopal Conference approved the principles of responsibility regarding priests who father children while in ministry, stating that if a priest fathers a child, the well-being of his child should be his first consideration. The document states that priests in this situation need to discharge their responsibilities and give due consideration to the best interests of the child, civil and canon law, and the views of the mother. Access to psychological support is through the HSE primary care services and community mental health teams. There is limited free-at-point-of-service psychological support available in Ireland, including a national childhood abuse or neglect service for adults.”

Accessing the national public health system is problematic for two reasons; firstly, why should the taxpayer pay for mental health provisions for clerical abuse victims? A child neglected or emotionally abused is a victim of abuse, in this context, clerical abuse.

The phenomenon of children of priests is characterised by secrecy, imposed secrecy that denatures the natural organic processes that develop within a family, fostering anxiety and depression in most instances.

All of this effectively means that the Irish state has, in part, contravened the convention on the rights of the child. Of course, the interesting part is, they are not alone.

RE: Damned Catholics
The Irish bishops have said a priest who leaves ministry after fathering a child must be financially supported by their diocese

The bishops’ instruction has been welcomed by Vincent Doyle, founder of Coping International, a support group for the offspring of Catholic priests and Religious.

Doyle, who is a psychotherapist, discovered when he was 28 that his godfather, Fr John Doyle, was actually his father.

He said the issue of priests fathering children, despite their vow of celibacy, is “a lot more common than you might think”.

“Priests having children is inevitable,” he warned and argued that the “remedy” is married priests.

According to Doyle the pressure placed on women in a relationship with a priest and the children conceived to remain silent is “effectively coercive control, which is a crime”.

He warned that even today, religious orders and dioceses continue to try to impose secrecy through confidentiality deals when making settlements. “It infuriates me that people think this is ok,” he said.

Burger King is in trouble for “blasphemous” ads in Spain, with people calling for boycotts.

Quote:The company changed the phrases “Take and eat all of it because this is my body” to “Take and eat all of it. There is no meat in it”; or “Flesh of my flesh” to “Vegetable of my vegetable.” The goal was to attract the millions of Catholics who don’t eat red meat on Fridays during lent, particularly on Good Friday.

Bishop José Ignacio Munilla of Orihuela-Alicante responded to the announcement by lamenting, “apparently, the loss of culinary taste and the lack of respect for religious feelings go hand in hand.”

Thousands of social media users denounced the campaign as blasphemous and added the company would not dare launch a similar campaign mocking the Jewish Passover or Islam’s month of Ramadan, to promote kosher products or inviting people to have a burger after sunset.

Being a Catholic is so much fun. You get to do some very important activism

Quote:A West Virginia priest is speaking publicly about his role in providing a funeral Mass and dignified burial for more than 100 aborted babies that pro-life activists say they rescued outside of a Washington, D.C., abortion clinic.

“I buried the babies myself,” Father Bill Kuchinsky, 62, a longtime advocate for the unborn who also runs the Catholic prison ministry for the entire state of West Virginia, revealed in an interview with CNA. He declined to disclose the burial location other than to say it was in a private cemetery.

“They are in a peaceful place and will be well cared for,” Kuchinsky said, adding that a “proper headstone” will be added, eventually. “They do have a large statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary looking directly over them for now,” he said.

Yeah, aborted fetuses get graves with headstones while actual children who were killed in Catholic orphanages get to be in mass graves under parking lots.

Burger King, sounds like. I think it's sweet that bishop thinks burger king wouldn't aggressively market to jews or muslims in the same way. I'm sure they would if they thought there was a dollar in it. Maybe they should take their blasphemous businesses out of catholic areas. See how those very faithful people take that?
