Religion and conspiracy theories will always spread racism, prejudice, and bigotry because they spread lies and as such need a boogieman to blame for why these lies are not true.
Example: science proves that the shroud of Turin is a medieval forgery - so the priests blame the Masons and claim how they sabotaged the experiments.
There is no evidence that Jesus rose from the dead - so the Gospel writers blame the Jews and claim that they paid witnesses to stay quiet and destroy the evidence.
UFO people claim that aliens are visiting Earth but have no evidence, so they blame the government and say that they are hiding the evidence.
Some Christians claim that on some place virgin Mary heals people, but when that fails to happen they blame people who use contraception.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas).
