was there really a republican party after the cold war?   or just a corpse not quite yet too  decomposed to prevent heavy make up from creating an illusion of freshness?

I think so, yeah, Bush the Younger being a product of it. The Establishment, as the magats seeing it, being that thing.

Major Networks Refusing to Show Donald Trump's Victory Speech Sparks Fury (msn.com)

Broadcasters have faced some criticism after cutting off Donald Trump's election victory speech in Iowa.

Trump romped to victory with over 50 percent of the vote in the Iowa caucus, well ahead of his closest challengers, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley.
But multiple networks appeared to either talk over the speech or cut the feed of it altogether. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow interjected when Trump began, saying the channel "will keep an eye" on what he says and the decision was not made "out of spite."

"At this point in the evening, the projected winner of the Iowa caucuses has just started giving his victory speech," Maddow told viewers. "We will keep an eye on that as it happens. We will let you know if there is any news made in that speech—if there is anything noteworthy, something substantive and important."

She added: "The reason I'm saying this is, of course, there is a reason that we and other news organizations have generally stopped giving an unfiltered, live platform to remarks by former President Trump.

Quote:The Belgian prime minister warned that democracy will be put to the test in the United States and in Europe during the elections this coming year.

Just hours after former President Trump won the Iowa caucuses by a wide margin Monday, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, whose country took the presidency of the European Union Council Jan. 1, said the European Parliament must prepare for a return of the “America first” agenda.

“2024 will be a crucial year, where our democracies and liberties will be put to the test,” De Croo said, referring to the European elections in June as well as the U.S. presidential election in November.

'But we're also going to place strong protections to stop banks and regulators from trying to de-bank you. From your— you know, your political beliefs, what they do. They want to de-bank you, and we're going to de-bank— think of this. They want to take away your rights. They want to take away your country. The things they’re doing, all-electric cars. Give me a break.' - Donald Trump, in a speech to supporters (who actually cheered) in New Hampshire

"The browns are stealing your money and your mobility". It's a damned shame they chose this way of getting all worked up about that - since it's pretty clear that the browns aren't doing shit. Rather, the moneyed class has found a way to profitably slam the door shut behind them, having drunk their fill at the petro pump. Which...idk...maybe we might wanna do something about.
