2024 US Presidential Election
RE: 2024 US Presidential Election
Trump baffles onlookers with claim Americans can't buy bread without getting raped or shot

Former President Donald Trump took time out of his day Tuesday to muse that people can't even go to the grocery store anymore without getting raped, mugged or even shot.

"You can't walk across the street to get a loaf of bread, you get shot, and you get mugged, you get raped, whatever it may be. You've seen it. I've seen it," Trump said.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I guess I will keep having groceries delivered.  I do that because I detest grocery shopping' and always have.  Must have missed the murder/mayhem memo about Kroger.  *shrug*

Next there will be shark attacks in the parking lot with all that new ocean front property he's talked about.

Perhaps he should consider moving to safer neighbourhood?
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

RE: 2024 US Presidential Election
Quote:CHICAGO — The political star power and unity on display at the Democratic National Convention, where Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack and Michelle Obama have lauded Vice President Harris, is putting in stark contrast the divisions in the GOP led by former President Trump.

In Milwaukee, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who has been in his post for a little less than a year, urged his party to “unite” and “send President Donald Trump back to the White House.”

But Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), the longest-serving Senate party leader in history who played a major role in confirming three Trump-appointed justices to the Supreme Court, attended but did not get a speaking slot.

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (Wis.), the 2012 GOP vice presidential candidate who helped Trump deliver his signature legislative achievement, the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, skipped the event entirely, even though he is from nearby Janesville, Wis.

He made the decision to boycott a Trump-centered convention in early 2023, telling a local television station: “I’ll be here if it’s not someone named Trump.”

I think Luntz makes a really good point here. Republicans are mouthing support largely out of fear of the MAGAt branch, not out of loyalty to Trump or any shared vision.

Okay, Walz is a former coach and teacher. He is from small town Minnesota. He has a disabled child. If he came out trans tomorrow, he'd have covered just about every base.

When you lot are done with Walz, we’d like to borrow him for a bit.
