I predict the October surprise will be Trump dropping Vance and picking Kennedy for his VP.

The electorate has a memory the length of a news cycle. An October surprise has to be done within 3 weeks of voting, or it won't even register in polling.

Trump is immune from surprises. There is nothing he can say that he hasn't already said. By now, every terrible comment is considered a feature by his worshipers, not a bug.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans on Sunday sought to distance themselves from Donald Trump’s latest insults of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during a rambling weekend rally in Wisconsin in which he called her “mentally disabled.”

Trump escalated his personal attacks on the vice president during what was billed as a speech on immigration following Harris’ trip to the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Joe Biden became mentally impaired,” Trump said. “Kamala was born that way. She was born that way. And if you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country. Anybody would know this.”

Trump has already falsely claimed Harris “turned Black” and regularly insults her as “stupid,” “weak,” “dumb as a rock” and “lazy.” With just over a month left before the presidential election, his allies pushed him publicly and privately to talk instead about the economy, immigration and other issues.

Note the cheering. One thing that always seems to surprise The New York Times reporters on their periodic diner safaris is that Trump’s fans love this stuff. They vote for him because he’ll break every law ever written since Hammurabi chiseled his stone tablets, not in spite of it.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s ® daughter said she’s backing Vice President Harris in a Monday article for Vanity Fair and “grieving the loss” of her dad to former President Trump.

“I spent a lot of my life wishing my father had less power,” Caroline Giuliani said in her Vanity Fair piece. “But I never wanted it to happen like this. And selfishly, the deeper my dad gets stuck in the quicksand of his problems, the more fleeting our opportunities to connect as father and daughter become.

“After months of feeling the type of sorrow that comes from the death of a loved one, it dawned on me that I’ve been grieving the loss of my dad to Trump,” Caroline Giuliani continued. “I cannot bear to lose our country to him too.”
