Non-Christians Banned From Tennessee Xmas Parade

The 2024 Cookeville-Putnam County Christmas Parade in Tennessee is going to be a huge event. Huge enough that the local PBS affiliate will carry the parade live on December 14 because, as one of its leaders previously explained, it’s “one of the community’s most beloved traditions.”

If there are local groups interested in participating in the parade, whether walking in it or creating a float, all they have to do is fill out the application before November 29. It’s just basic stuff. You have to describe your entry, provide contact information, agree not to throw candy from your float (because it might cause injury!), and promise not to dress up as Santa Claus (because he’ll already be making an appearance).

Oh. And you have to agree that trans people don’t exist, that same-sex marriage is an abomination, and that human life begins at conception. It’s all part of the application’s Statement of Faith.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Worshippers of space Hitler are walking sacks of shit. Surprising as a sunrise.
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

Texas Jews are ‘deeply concerned’ about Christian material in proposed public school curriculum

Texas is poised to adopt a public school curriculum that refers to Jesus as “the Messiah,” asks kindergartners to study the Sermon on the Mount and presents the Crusades in a positive light.

The critics, who include Jewish parents and organizations as well as interfaith and education advocacy groups, say Bluebonnet — which will be optional but which schools would be paid to adopt — inappropriately centers on Christian theology and ideas. They have been lobbying for revisions since it was first proposed in May, offering detailed feedback.

“The first round of the curriculum that we saw honestly had a lot of offensive content in it, and was proselytizing, and did not represent Jewish people well,” said Lisa Epstein, the director of San Antonio’s Jewish Community Relations Council.

Now those critics say most of their specific suggestions have been accepted but they remain concerned.

“Looking at the revision, we still feel that the curriculum is not balanced and it introduces a lot of Christian concepts at a very young age, like resurrection and the blood of Christ and the Messiah, when kids are just really too young to understand and they don’t really have a grasp yet completely of their own religion,” she added.

The Texas vote comes as advocates of inserting Christianity into public education are ascendant across the country. Political conservatives are in power at the national level and the Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority has demonstrated openness to blurring church-state separation.

How do the Crusades fit in with "Thou shall not kill"?? Maybe it was a typo and should read "Thou shall not kill except for foreigners who worship a different invisible friend"

Irish cleric who preached that Israel has Nazi-style policies ‘has family link to Hitler’

Canon David Oxley, who accused Israel of deploying a “master race” theory in a speech to senior Irish politicians at St Patrick’s Cathedral last week, was said to have admitted that his wife’s family were Nazis during the Second World War in his address at the same event five years ago.

According to a report of the 2019 service in the Irish Independent, he told the cathedral that the mother of his wife, Amalia Oxley, was German, and he had relatives who fought for the Third Reich.

He also said, according to the article: “It’s not everyone who can boast that their mother-in-law had Adolf Hitler as a godfather. It’s not everyone who would want to.”

Easily.

"Lo tirsah" does not translate directly to kill and allows for self-defense, and the Crusades were in response to hundreds of years of Islamic aggression and taking of slaves across the Mediterranean, with the original specific goal of reclaiming cities with century old Christian communities - many founded by Europeans - that had been occupied by the Caliphates.

Even if the Crusades were "just" against the Muslims, it doesn't make Catholics look any better.

But you are uninformed, as usual. Crusades were against all religions that were not Catholic. Thus, you had the slaughter of Cathars in France known as the Albigensian Crusade. There were also Northern Crusades against non-Christians in Europe. Crusaders would also regularly slaughter Jews in Europe. There was also the famous Battle on the Ice fought in Russia when the Catholic Church tried to violently impose Catholicism on the Orthodox Christians in Russia and failed spectacularly. And so on.

Cool; a Crusade against rebellious Occitan barons who grew too wealthy and rebelled against the Crown of France...
Crusades against Norsemen and Slavs who still followed barbarian faiths (see; slavery, human sacrifice, the fun stuff...)

--- Yeah, the Jew stuff was pretty bad. They were involved in the slave trade (primarily transportation and castration) of Europeans to sell to Muslims as well as the tax collection of peasants, so... understandable anger, but not justified still. ---

Okay; again, Prussian/German noblemen with some Polish and Norman aristocracy and the Druzinha of places like Novgorod and Valadimir (like the Crusade of Southern France) was primarily a secular affair between noblemen, often time the 2-6th sons of lords back West looking to expand their power in the only way they knew how.

Anyways, by your own examples the majority of the Crusades were justified; and also, the "God will sort his own." is a fake quote, it sickened me too.
