Metro pastor arrested for molesting girl and calling her “the chosen one”
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – A metro pastor was arrested this week after he allegedly convinced his congregation to move in with him, and then molested a young girl.
Turns out that had happened, according to the report, members said that Elmer forced all of the families to move into his trailer near Northwest 10th Street and Meridian last year at some point.
The report stated that Elmer told them he spoke for God, and that an underage girl was the speaker for God, and she was the “chosen one.” They allegedly believed him and permitted her to sleep in his bedroom.
Several of the members told police about allegations of sexual abuse by Elmer as well.
She said that Flores would perform tests on members of his congregation in which he would test their loyalty to him. He also allegedly would perform tests on the young girl in which he would molest her.
Not only that, but at one point, when the congregation was at Harlow Park near NW 19th and Meridian, he sat down next to her and told her to come back to his home to have sex with him as a test to “reject the temptation of the flesh.”
She told police she was uncomfortable with the conversation but that Flores assured her she wouldn’t get “pregnant with him like she would with younger boys because he was working through God.”
He also allegedly molested her in his home at one point and said that if she told anyone what had happened, her parents would be banned from his church and would “go to hell.”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Theodore McCarrick, Cardinal Defrocked Over Sex Abuse, Dies at 94
Theodore E. McCarrick, the former archbishop of Washington and the highest American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church to be accused of sexually abusing minors and seminarians — a charge that stripped him of his ministry, his place in the College of Cardinals and his priesthood, reducing him to the status of a layman — has died. He was 94.
The accusations against Cardinal McCarrick, who had helped shape many of his church’s policies for responding to its sexual abuse crisis, were shocking but hardly incredible when they came to light in 2018, after a church investigation concluded that he had molested a teenage altar server in 1971 and 1972 while he was monsignor in New York City. Thousands of priests before him had faced charges of abuse, and the church had paid victims hundreds of millions in settlements. In 2012, Cardinal Bernard F. Law, the archbishop of Boston and America’s senior prelate, resigned amid revelations that he had protected pedophile priests for years.
Although Cardinal McCarrick promptly resigned his ministry “at the direction of Pope Francis,” church officials said, he contended that he was innocent, saying he had no recollection of the reported abuse.
Other sexual misconduct allegations against him soon emerged. Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin of Newark said that during a McCarrick ministry in Metuchen, N.J., in the 1980s, when Cardinal McCarrick was bishop of the diocese there, three adults accused him of improprieties that led to two financial settlements. And former priests said he had had sexual contact with dozens of New Jersey seminarians, who called him “Uncle Ted.”
An investigation by The New York Times in 2018 revealed that members of the church hierarchy had known for decades about accusations that Father McCarrick had preyed on men who aspired to the priesthood, sexually harassing and touching them.
How Cardinal McCarrick was able to avoid exposure for his crimes seemed to have been answered by a Washington Post investigation, showing that starting in 2001, he had sent checks totaling more than $600,000 to some 100 powerful Catholic clerics, including Vatican officials, some of them directly involved in assessing misconduct claims against him. The checks were drawn from a special charity account of the Archdiocese of Washington, where he began serving as archbishop in 2001.
In November 2020, the Vatican released a report detailing how the disgraced former prelate had risen through the church hierarchy despite longstanding allegations of sexual misconduct. The report, based on an investigation commissioned by Pope Francis, in which he largely absolved himself, put fault chiefly on his predecessors, Pope Benedict XVI, and in particular on Pope John Paul II.
Cardinal McCarrick had been a spokesman for orthodoxy, opposing abortion and defending celibacy for an all-male priesthood, heterosexual marriage and the infallibility of the pope on doctrinal matters.

Christian missionary group accused of public shaming and rituals to ‘cure’ sexual sin
An Observer investigation has revealed evidence of safeguarding failings within Youth With a Mission (YWAM), a global movement that trains young Christians to spread the gospel.
The allegations span two decades and include claims that young missionaries were publicly shamed, subjected to rituals to “cure” their homosexuality, and told that leaving was against God’s will.
Young British adults who signed up for training schools and overseas mission trips – many during their gap years – described regular confession sessions where they were pressured to admit their “sins” in a group.
These included perceived moral transgressions such as homosexual thoughts, sexual activity, abortions and watching pornography, as well as other “sins” such as disobeying a leader or having “rebellious thoughts”. Those who confessed could be questioned and made to give public apologies, according to former missionaries. They could be prayed for or could face punishment, including being removed from volunteer roles. In some cases, interventions were more extreme. Former YWAM volunteers described the use of rituals similar to exorcisms to banish demons from people who acknowledged having sex outside marriage.
Another former British YWAM worship leader described a “casting out” at a base in Australia, arranged after a man revealed that he had sexual relations with other men. Leaders placed their hands on him before chanting prayers to “banish the spirit of homosexuality”, and he reportedly convulsed. The British man was himself struggling with his sexuality and said he was left feeling as though a “demon” was living inside him.
Others described how people disclosed being victims of assault or sexual abuse, as well as transgressions such as speeding fines.
The “repentance and forgiveness” rituals are alleged to be part of a wider picture of control at some bases, which also included restrictions on romantic relationships, clothing and when missionaries could visit family.
Commands were often communicated by leaders as though they were instructions from God. “They were always changing what other people wanted to do by saying: ‘I reckon, God is saying this.’ It was used to manipulate,” one former missionary said.
Last year, YWAM’s base in Perth, Australia – one of the biggest in the world – faced scrutiny over its handling of alleged historic sexual misconduct, including claims that its leaders told alleged victims to apologise to their alleged attackers for “leading them on”. A YWAM base in the UK was recently closed amid claims of spiritual abuse.

Priest suing gay dating app Grindr because it permanently derailed his upward trajectory to the position of bishop
LOS ANGELES – A Catholic monsignor who alleges in a lawsuit that Grindr’s improper sharing of his private information has derailed his hope to be a bishop says in new court papers that he had no idea, when he began using the gay dating app, that he would be required to arbitrate any disputes.
Burrill’s information was bought by the Catholic Laity and Clergy for Renewal, a theologically conservative private foundation who gave the data to The Pillar, which in July 2021 published worldwide an article in which Burrill’s use of Grindr was revealed and he was “smeared with false and lurid claims,” including suggestions that he may have been involved with minors, the suit states.
The consequences came quick, the suit states.
“Plaintiff's reputation was immediately destroyed and he has received an endless river of worrisome threats and hate mail,” the suit states.
“He was forced to leave his position as general secretary with the USCCB and his upward trajectory to the position of bishop has been permanently derailed.”

Once-secret records show how S.F. Archdiocese handled priests accused of child sex abuse
The church turned over the 175 pages of records on Tuesday after a federal bankruptcy judge ordered the release against the wishes of the archdiocese.
The records show:
At least three priests who by the church’s definition faced credible accusations of sexually abusing minors stayed on the San Francisco Archdiocese’s list of clergy members with full status for years, including one, David Ghiorso, who faced five credible abuse accusations and remains on the good standing list. The other two priests, Lawrence Finegan and Daniel Carter, were taken off the list in 2024 after accusations were sustained, without any public acknowledgment of the church’s findings, according to court records.
Another priest, Linh Tien Nguyen, remains on the good standing list despite being accused in a lawsuit of abusing a middle-school student and former altar boy between 2005 and 2008.
The IRB and the archdiocese regularly visited clergy members with sustained abuse allegations, supporting them financially through monthly pension payments, housing stipends and therapy reimbursements.
While the San Francisco Archdiocese petitioned for bankruptcy in 2023 after being named in 537 sex abuse lawsuits just 49 priests were named in the IRB’s table of investigations into its clergy as of 2022, including several who are now deceased and two dozen priests it cleared of abuse.
The board discussed publicizing the names of credibly accused clergy members but decided against it because doing so would “stir up controversy.”
Archbishop Cordileone has long denied the existence of lists of credibly accused priests in his organization. But in October 2023, Cordileone, at an IRB meeting, acknowledged the existence of internal lists the archdiocese kept of clergy with sustained accusations of child sexual abuse as determined by the IRB.

So Archbishop Cordileone lies as well as supporting pedo priests, dare he show his face in public?

It is somewhat explained in the article: Monsignor John Talesfore, a pastor at a San Mateo church and member of the IRB, said that “he comes from a mindset that he can never comprehend the claims made against the priests,” according to the minutes.
Then again some Catholics simply ignore the whole pedophilia thing, and some believe in a conspiracy theory that communists have infiltrated into the ranks of Catholic priests to rape kids and thus weaken the credibility of the Catholic Church.

Buffalo Diocese agrees to pay $150M to settle sexual abuse claims
The Diocese of Buffalo agreed to pay $150 million to settle over 800 claims of sexual abuse, sources confirmed to WIVB News 4 on Monday. The settlement follows years of efforts to reach an agreement of compensation for victims, and the Diocese’s bankruptcy filing in 2020.
The claims were a large factor in the Diocese’s decision to close and merge churches across Western New York over the past year, along with declining number of priests and parishioners.
Around 600 of the abuse cases involved clerics. Some of the clerics had multiple allegations against them.

Child sexual abuse scandal cast long shadow over Francis’s papacy
Within hours of Francis’s death on Monday, survivors of clerical sexual abuse sounded a discordant note amid the lavish tributes. They said the pope failed to fundamentally change the culture of deference that allowed abusers to flourish and failed to deliver decisive action. It was the “tragedy of his papacy”, said one organisation.
Among the scandals that erupted in the first half of Francis’s papacy were a damning report on the sexual abuse of potentially thousands of children by priests in Pennsylvania and the subsequent cover-up by the church; the resignation as a cardinal (and later defrocking) of Theodore McCarrick, a former archbishop of Washington, over alleged sexual assaults; a police raid on the Catholic church’s HQ in Chile; and the conviction of an Australian archbishop of covering up child abuse.
In Chile, Francis defended a bishop, Juan Barros, who had been accused of being an accomplice of that country’s most notorious paedophile priest, Fernando Karadima. Francis only changed his stance after a disastrous trip to Chile in January 2018. He admitted “grave errors” of judgment, and summoned all the Chilean bishops to Rome and received their resignations en masse.
Later that year, Pope Francis’s two-day trip to Ireland, once a devoutly Catholic country, was dominated by protests by abuse survivors who demanded that the pontiff take responsibility for the church’s failures. Francis made repeated pleas for forgiveness at public events.
As his trip came to an end, archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, a retired Vatican diplomat, demanded Francis’s resignation, claiming he had failed to act on abuse allegations against a prominent figure in the church hierarchy.
After the Pennsylvania report, Francis issued a 2,000-word letter to members of the global church. It spoke of sorrow and shame at atrocities committed by priests, and begged for forgiveness.
The following year, he summoned bishops from around the world to Rome for a summit on clerical sexual abuse. He told them survivors deserved “concrete and efficient measures”, not mere condemnations.
That was followed by a decree that all Catholic priests and nuns must report sexual abuse and its cover-up to church authorities – although not to police.
But for survivors it was too little, too late.
Ending Clergy Abuse (ECA) said after Francis’s death on Monday that his papacy “fell short of delivering the decisive action needed”.
Its statement added: “Words without action ring hollow. Under [Francis’s] leadership, the church failed to hold bishops accountable for their roles in enabling, concealing, and perpetuating abuse. Systemic change remained elusive.
“The resignation of a few prelates behind closed doors is no substitute for public accountability. His refusal to remove or discipline those complicit in cover-ups betrayed the church’s moral obligation to protect the vulnerable.”
